Holy shit

holy shit

YOU ARE INVITED

FOR ALL TIIIIIIIME

What's the appeal of this?

I've listened to it twice, and I can barely even remember how the thing sounds even slightly.

And no lyrics stand out to me either.

It's unusual how much nothing stuck with me, because usually there's at least a song, or god forbid, a hook/lyric/melody that cements itself in my memory.

But for this when I try to think of it, it's like a blank canvass almost.

The best I could describe it is as inoffensive but at the same time different.

you can tell every time they just lean away when you just wanna talk

I really think you should at least read the lyrics to Back and Forth again

This album sounds like nothing else though. There was not a thing that sounded like this when it came out and bands still reach for this sound but they can't. It's catchy and memorable as often as it is changing tempo and meter, what's not to like really?

Like
I can appreciate the lyrics on paper

I agree they're very well written reading over them again

But listening to it doesn't make me feel anything

Same applies here

The music can sound unique as it likes
And change tempos or follow all other kinds of well written musical structures

But even if on paper this album is all well and good

It doesn't make me feel anything, or resonate with me

Perhaps I'm just not the right audience for this album but it doesn't impact me in any substantial way

It's one thing to be able to acknowledge how technically proficient something is musically and lyrically

It's another to have that combination exert its force on you and leave an impact

RED WIRE
right temple
BLACK WIRE
left temple

Listening to it for the first time right at this second. Just about to start the first song.

Are you a man in his 20's? Do you generally like eccentric alternative/indie rock?

There are folks that say to have a soul you've got to suffer
Well lately I've had my RDA of that
And call it fascist but I know that someday happy
Will be all that matters
Someday, I'm telling you
They'll make a memory machine
To wax our hearts to a blinding sheen
To wash away the grief

what
do
YOU WANT ME TO SAAAY

Yes to the first

Don't listen to enough of that specific genre to really say if I do or not

I guess it depends on how broad of a spectrum you want that to envelop

Take out the indie portion of that and honestly it doesn't appeal to me much
If shit like loveless or kid a falls into that broad spectrum

I don't think they're bad albums

But I kind of have a similar view of them as I do this

Nothing really sticks with me (only exception is the song only shallow).

It just kind of is there while I'm listening, its of that special breed of music that I can't focus on as it all makes me feel nothing

I'd equate the feeling to what someone might think all music sounds like if they weren't too fond of music in the first place but could abide by it.

Not offensive or Ill suiting to make me want to turn it off
But nothing that really makes me want to come back and turn it on later either

See that's the kind of thing about lyrics like this

If they were poetry alone I could simply appreciate the thoughtfulness of the phrasing and feelings to attempts to envoke
(though even then they make me feel nothing besides a slight yearning for him to word things more clearly)
But in music form the lack of appellation to my soul makes it lacking for me

I'm a very direct person and I like my lyrics (and generally interactions with others) to be the same way.

Otherwise it feels like it's just messing about when you could get the heart of what you're really trying to say

Halfway through right now
8-9/10 so far, really fucking great

>this fucking spacing

YOU DIG DOWN

the time signatures are unique and the riffs have a psychedelic sound to them
also great memorable catchy lyrics

I'm on my phone.
And I have poor eyesight but don't wear glasses.

If I don't space out shit as I'm responding I'll get lost in the sea of text

I don't own a pc

The time signatures aren't unique at all. The whole album's in 4, there's just some tempo changes. At times, the drum part gets syncopated for a measure or to just as a fill, but you can tell it's still in 4, as you can tap your foot straight through it and come back in on one.

you have to an american undergrad to have this album work for you, if you're not then don't bother

But I am an American undergrad.

Sounds more like noise than fucking Les Rallizes Dénudés

this tbqh
was okay for a few listens but after that nothing really stuck out about it for me

uh nah, the whole album isn't in 4, not even close

Yes it is. Please, enlighten me. At what point is this album not in 4? Because it's all in 4.

Memory Machine is in 5/4
Spider in the Snow is in 7/4
and Gyroscope alternates between 4/4 and 7/8

"THERE WASN'T ANY WIND, NO NOISE, NO NOTHING JUST A BODY JERKED SKYWARDS , LIMBS FLAILING LIKE AN UNLOVED MARIONETTE, AT IMPOSSIBLE SPEED, RECEDING AWAY LIKE A FAR AWAY DOT... I CAN SEE HER STILL, SCREAMING HELP BUT NO ONE ANSWERED... SHE TURNED END ON END LIKE A LONG LOST ASTRONAUT
, I FELT THE SUMMER AIR RECLAIM ME THE CHIRP OF THE BIRDS AND WHISPER OF LEAVES, AND I FROZEN... to the face of
The earth"

dumb phoneposter kill yourself

The fuck else am I supposed to do bruv?

I can't afford a computer nor do I really need one for anything
