because high to either corner is basically unsaveable. high middle is also good since most of the time the keeper jumps to one side and can barely cover the low/bottom middle not the high with his feet.

Well either you're playing against people that cant shoot fast enough that you cant decipher the direction of the ball, or you are a choosing a suboptimal path as most strikers will aim for a low to mid ball on either side of the net

Because it's easier to shoot high and fast. Technically is better to shoot low and fast because it's awkward for the keeper, but shooting low won't give the ball the same velocity.
