Could you guys help me out with 91? How do I think?

8-3*[-2*(2-5)-4*(8-6)] = 8-3*[-2*(-3)-4*2] = 8-3*[6-6] = 8
OP here. Correct answer is 14 but how?
8 - 3[-2(2 - 5) - 4(8 - 6)]
8 - 3[-2(-3) - 4(2)]
8 - 3[6 - 8]
8 - 3[-2]
8 + 6
14
oh, you
This is such basic shit
How old are you?
It's either 14 or it's one of those strange American math problems where different paranthesis have higher priority for whatever stupid reason.
Underage b&
hey everybody starts somewhere you big butt face
What grade are you in? You know it's illegal to go to Sup Forums at an early age like yours kiddo. (I'm not say anything if you're retarded)
Pretty sure this is 5th grade material
this
Kinda skipped a step though. For the sake of thoroughness:
8 - 3[-2(2-5) - 4(8-6)]
8 - 3[-2(-3) - 4(2)]
8 - 3[6 - 8]
8 - 3[-2]
8 - (-6)
8 + 6
14
PEMDAS
problem solved
12 year old on Sup Forums wtf
right, cause 4*2 clearly equals 6
>tfw you're taking precalculus in fucking university and you're so bad at math you once literally forgot what 5 + 5 is, then couldn't mentally understand how it is ten upon remembering the answer
I make zero judgements on the mathematically retarded, pretty much because I've never met anyone who's as mathematically retarded as I am.
>big butt face
can you get off Sup Forums? this is no place for 12 year olds
Are you acoustic?
OP here. Can you guys help me out with 95? Correct answer is -1/2 but I don't understand how
PEMDAS
3.50
Yeah, but in university mathematics, people don't use numbers. And especially the don't have to solve shit like OP's doing
Checked
>precalculus
>university
pick one. I know they took your money and they probably call themselves a university, but lets not just throw words around.
savage
Numerator:
(5-6)^2 - 2|3-7|
=(-1)^2 - 2|-4|
=1 - 8
Denominator:
89 - 75
=14
=1 - 8 / 14
=-7 / 14
=-0.5
how do you get 89 - 75 ?
>89 - 3.52
>89 - 12.25
>76.5
underage b&
127 is the last one I need help with guys
trick question, you can't simplify that
Correct answer is 16y-25 according to the book
7-4(3-(4y-5))
= 7 + (-4)(3 - (4y - 5)
= 7+ (-12 + 16y -20)
= 16y - 25
hthy
oops fucked up the reply
This is highschool level basic maths, OP IS UNDERAGE PLS REPORT.
They have an order so everyone gets the same answer dumb ass
why would i want to report this? There is an underaged kid here doing his homework, needing help on a few questions, and coming to a place with a lot of adults, I would say the kid is clever. And who knows what his life is like, maybe parents have no time to help. I don't think reporting him would benefit anyone.
...
>They have an order so everyone gets the same answer dumb ass
You could express any math term unambiguously even if you had only one type of paranthesis. Different paranthesis should only be used to make an expression more readable. There is no reason why they should have different priorities. It just makes it less intuitive.
What app? And is it free?
Cymath, and yes.
i think it's impressive this dude got the answer posted in about 30 seconds of the thread starting.
Sure the square brackets are ridiculous, but don't act like you can't execute a problem in any order that's just plain wrong.
Is it? This is pretty basic shit.
>you can't execute a problem in any order that's just plain wrong.
Where did I say that?
thread appears
user replies in 30 seconds
i think it is. unless you're hovering over F5 looking for math problems.
7 - 4[3 - (4y - 5)]
7 - [12 - 4(4y - 5)]
7 - [12 - (16y - 20)]
7 - 12 + (16y - 20)
-5 + 16y - 20
16y - 25
This is fucking retarded parentheses don't have priority. I'm American and have never heard of this, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're teaching stupid shit like that in schools now.
A kid can get fucked up mentally on Sup Forums
ITT idiots do OP's math problems
