After they split, they each had a brief period of decent music before declining in quality

I hate how people put all the weight of Weezer's best attributes on Rivers, when Matt was half the soul, much of the brain, and most of the image of the band's classic years.

Their new single is better than all of Pacific Daydream.

They've both made good music post-split (I thought The White Album was better than any Rentals album except Return, and the recent Rentals single was pretty great) but my point was that neither of them on their own have been able to match their output together

I think the Rentals are more consistent, but ultimately the blue album, Pinkerton, and Return of the Rentals are amazing albums, and the rest of their collective output is either just ok or mediocre. Weezer has for sure reached lower lows.

The Rentals newest album Lost in Alphaville is better than EWBAITE and White.

Reminder that Matt never wrote a single song for Weezer.

Weezer - 2 great albums, 3 ok and 6 shit albums

So on balance, The Rentals. Matt Sharp was involved in both of Weezer's great albums.
