Nope. Fake news. Nothing they talk about is music, it's just people making sounds and getting money for it.

whats the student loan swindle?

Bob dylan or bruce springsteen could make a steaming pile of horseshit album and they'd laud it for a year.

No.

high interest rates and bankrupcy doesnt absolve student lones

Shady banks getting sweetheart deals on loan defaults

Sellouts. No one cares about them anymore.

i'm taking them out but leaving the country so I don't pay them (HAHA)

Banks charge upwards of 70% interest on college loan debt

i guess fats domino is dead, yeah. But now that you mentioned it, i haven't actually seen his corpse, so doubts remain.

DID

I don't.

Since when has RSM been relevant since the 70s?

I did have a laugh when they released their list of the 500 "greatest songs of all time" and 90% of it was western music made in the last 50 years, most of it pop & rock. I think they're alright when it comes to rock music, and they shouldn't pretend to give a shit about other genres because they clearly don't.

Run by normies who give albums low reviews once they're first released but then change their mind once the albums become popular. Here is a link to some old reviews they've given rollingstone.com/music/pictures/10-classic-albums-rolling-stone-originally-panned-w429731/jimi-hendrix-electric-ladyland-1967-w429732

what do you mean trust?
Its an irrelevant liberal boomer rag that is going to die and stay in the 20th century with MTV.

Young kids today read p4k and listen to music on streaming platforms, they get their politcs from social media, blogs, podcasts.

Late 60s.

THE

>slutti B
wow what a powerfful woman right?!
no just a slut who makes shit music, but its still listenable so thats good enough to put her half naked on rolling stone

When Lester Bangs died Rolling Stone died with it.

To be fair, I'm not sure if kids in the 80s-90s even read RSM. Weren't magazines like "Heavy Metal" more popular with Gen Xers?

i've just realized i have no idea where rolling stone came from or how it got started

they should put like deathgrapes on the cover
or chocolate milk hotel.
Yeah, put varg on the cover, shit would be funny

Rolling stone is a relic of the past, known for big upping classic rock, although in recent time just slapping anyone on the cover from a kardashain to whatever irrelevant pop star of the week is around to a terrosit.

They fucked up hard with that campus rape article.

No one reads magazines anymore.

Its politcs are such basic bitch mainstream liberal.

While kids outchea being like maoist third worldists and national anarchists, and ancaps, and nazbols, and strasserists and shit.

Like fuck off with that shit, fuck the democrats and the republicans lol

put anime on the cover, that would be funny

who the fuck reads rolling stone, how are they still in business

MAN

I don't read any magazines.
Its all shit.

The thing you have to understand is that RSM is primarily a politics magazine that just happens to also cover music. My uncle said how he loved the Grateful Dead back in the day, but RSM ignored them while instead dickriding the amazingly boring Crosby, Stills, and Nash. They couldn't play for shit compared with the Dead, but RSM agreed with their politics so they got nonstop attention from them.

Only 45 year old men who wear Vin Diesel Triple X shades read it.

im seriouse, just have a cover with the words "anime" on it.
The internet would explode

Back in the day, any time a reviewer would trash a Rolling Stones or Dylan album, Jan Wenner would write a new review in the next issue dickriding them. He just couldn't accept that his heroes could make a bad album.

I give you, that's a fault Christgau never had. He had no problem saying it when the Stones or the Who (both two of his favorite bands) laid an egg.

RSM died long before Bangs did.

Chances are that that list was just entry level classic rock songs.

Okay this is how you turn rolling stone around

1.First the font on the magazine needs to be like that font wes anderson uses in all his movies, even the rs logo. but really the front design needs to change

2. embrace the new new left, socialism, bernie sanders crew, chap trap house faggots as the politics of choice, shit on centrist and corporate dems

3. love bruce and paul and mick but they are 90 years old. Need some fresh blood on the cover. Put king krule on the cover, put uhhh car seat headrest, Alabama shakes, diiv, mac demarco, the 1975, 21 pilots, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, father john misty, death grips, put all the hip people on there with a smathering of normie core too

4. put people who dont make rock music on the cover too, especially electronic and rap and pop people

5. do articles about older hip bands like neutral milk hotel or my bloody valentine or morrissy

6. retool the website and turn it into something like vice meets p4k

7. creates lots of youtube and video content that is outrageous and absurd and gets views "watch his video of lil b holding a kitten"

8. discard the boomer mindset of thinking the system works and embrace the absurdist nihilism of millennials and gen z who know the systems rigged but choose to troll it since they cant get rid of it.

>the 1975
>21 pilots
>with a smathering of normie core too
implying those bands arent normie core

>discard the boomer mindset of thinking the system works
That's the irony. Back when RSM first started and boomers were kids, they thought they system was broken and their parents fucked it all up...until they grew up and became that which they claimed to oppose.

And euthanize Jan Wenner.

>with a smathering of normie core to

Uh, isn't that pretty much what the cover with Cardi B is doing?

yeah i know, thats why i put them there.

Why doesnt rolling stone have fucking tame impla on the cover?
have they?
no one reads that shit anyways

Literally What magazine featuring Literally Who?

>Why doesnt rolling stone have fucking tame impla on the cover?

Because the cover could be better used for a story about such youthful, upcoming artists as David Crosby.

cardi b is irrlvant, might as well put iggy azela or some shit.
Rolling stone is competeing with p4k here for young viewers.
So put fucking like fucking ariel pink on the cover or some shit

Just another flash in the pan like Meghan Traynor or LMFAO were.

^This. They need to embrace Youtube content and lolsorandumb humor to appeal to today's 20 year olds.

rolling stone should be like having king kruel on the cover, and sit down interviews in arieal pinks bed room, and like an exclusive into the dark right wing realm of neo folk, and like next weeks cover should be the "new" genre of black gaze brought to you by deafheavan, and like an in depth article about how neo liberalism has destroyed society and socalism is the true answer.

Instead, its like "springsteen at 90" living large and in charge

Rolling Stone has been dogshit since day 1

Asking Lana Del Rey about her masturbation habits, an expose into Internet Sup Forumstards, Anthony Fantano columns, that sort of thing.

No Deadmau5 though; he sucks.

lan del ray sucks and is for normies who think they are hip.
Everyone knows about pol, the second you react to pol pol wins.
This isnt about pol, this about the system as a whole, democrats and liberals should be attacked too, neo liberal capitalist scum.

Fandango is a video guy, give a podcast or something

>Fandango is a video guy, give a podcast or something
Podcast, whatever. This is the 21st century, I'm aware.

>lan del ray sucks and is for normies who think they are hip.

Correct. An industry plant designed to simulate indie music.

RSM is the definition of an establishment magazine in terms of their politics and the artists they feature, which are all entry level dadrockers or when they do run a story about a Millenial-aged artist, it's always someone safe and non-controversial.

Lana Del Ray is exactly the kind of artist they would cover because there isn't anything edgy about this industry plant.

this jesus. it's stupid af that there is an [adult swim] of animation but there's no [adult swim] of music

lal

Yes. I also believe 1 in 3 women are raped. Their busting open of phantom rape cases was both brave and spoopy.

>shit on centrist and corporate dems
Okkid.jpeg

It's a start in the right direction anyway.

Don't forget to take a hipster look at 60s top 40 radio. "Today, we will talk about Sugar Sugar, and its influence. Next week, we will talk about the relevance of Backfield in Motion in 2017."

Not really, no.

They've also always had a hateboner for British bands not named the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.

I think shit like Spin or Alternative Press was more popular with Gen-X'ers than RS. Rolling Stone was always for the boomers, no matter how hard they tried to seem hip.

The occasional Nirvana cover story notwithstanding.

They did this with Bruce’s album The Rising even though it was mediocre, just because it was about 9/11

>socialism is the answer

lmao

Wenner and his son are actually trying to sell the thing off now. Maybe it'll get taken over by someone who de-boomerizes it.

Yeah...that's what I mean. They ran a Nirvana cover story only after the SLTS video was playing on MTV 50x a day, when the real alternative music mags would have covered the Seattle scene well before that.

Fun fact: when he closed his concert at Winterland in December 1975, Zappa finished with Muffin Man and closed, "Good night San Francisco and Fuck Rolling Stone Magazine".

RS was never good.

Here's a sample of 1985 RSM covers (to use an arbitrary example). Note the complete lack of actual underground/alternative acts. Nothing but MTVcore and classic rock.

It's the supermarket checkout line idea of music journalism.

At least they didn't put hair metal bands on the covers. I give them that much.

Well, no, 12 year old girls don't read RSM. ;)

>implying Billy Idol wasn't just a fake industry plant teen idol

Even Christgau wasn't fooled by him.
