What a fucking meme

Velvet Underground sucks. I want the time I spent listening to this back.

Finally someone said that.
I don't know about this album tho, checked the banana one only to see how important this "masterpiece" is and it's just fucking boring, kinda experimental but nothing too big for these times, I guess it's one of these overrated alternative rock classics like Remain in Light.

Wait you actually spent 40 minutes listening to something you don't like? Are you too retarded to realize you don't like something after

>not listening to the whole thing before giving any opinions

nah you guys are retarded and don't know how rock and roll is supposed to make you feel

also
>Finally someone said that.
the fact that you've never heard some random pleb say that proves how new you are, it's not exactly uncommon for normies to not like old shit

if you don't like TVU you shouldn't be allowed to post here desu

>Thinking you need to listen through every moment of Justin Bieber's discog to form an opinion

Enlighten us, how is rock and roll "supposed" to make someone feel? And did you grow up through the 50's/60's/70's or are you some autistic LARPer who thinks he has the authentic rock and roll spirit?
Fuck you and your shitty tastes. You're literally retarded, along with everyone else who pretends to enjoy this garbage lmao.

Yeah you do, pleb.
Why do normies always try to discuss things they don't know about.
I haven't listened to bieber, so I don't talk shit.
Even worse, you're looking for an excuse to not listen to music. If you're not into looking for shit you haven't heard, get the fuck off this board cause this having taste shit isn't for you.

>kinda experimental but nothing too big for these times
>1964
>tvu&n

cant tell if troll or just literal plebeian trash opinion

All you have to do is actually listen its not that hard. It's exciting and impulsive and that's about it.

Get the fuck out of here with those other assumptions too. I never said any of that.

Right?
All these fucking people trying to say shit about an era they've listened to 1 or 2 albums from.

>1964
are you ok?

stop being mean about my favourite band
there is no popular music except that by the velvet underground

>1964
What? In 1964 Lou Reed was a studio musician doing a Bob Dylan impression. You're thinking of 1966

eh, knew i remembered it wrong as i hit post but whatever, it changes nothing. still insane for 67

It's really not "exciting" or "impulsive", it's lethargic and shitty and you're a stupid faggot for letting yourself get tricked into liking this. Might as well kill yourself because your entire life is a meme.

also sick 60s music btw

this is like the first noise rock album of all time. you fucking faggot piece of shit how can you not enjoy this album. kys i hate u

Les Rallizes Denudes are a 70's band you mong

>people responding to this thread seriously
dammit Sup Forums

Ooh name calling, I believe you now.
Listen, it's a style you obviously haven't really listened to much, no shit you wouldn't understand what they're trying to do. You haven't experienced the context. Nothing deep, but taste is shaped by what you've heard, and obviously you haven't heard the right shit to have a proper perspective on the music.

recorded '73 - '77

shit reason to like this album man

what's it like having no taste at all?

I've listened to all genres, all periods, that's how I can tell this is shit, you dumbass. I can't believe you fell for the nihilistic rock meme. Like I said you're literally a meme, no hard feelings but your life is a joke.

Now you're just lying.
Your first post outed you as a newfag.
It's just embarrassing now

What's it like thinking good taste = degenerate lazy rock? Seriously the best things people can say about this album is, first, it captures the spirit of the times (pessimistic and shitty), and second, it was so inventive that it prefigured punk and noise rock (both genres that are defined by sounding like shit). Jesus fucking Christ you losers have to experience some beauty and stop wallowing in filth and self-pity. You're listening to a bunch of burnouts from the 60's and literally worshipping them like gods.

Absolute pleb

The only embarrassing thing in this thread is you thinking the Velvet underground is somehow good music lol. It sounds objectively shitty, the burden of proof is on you to show that it's somehow actually good (spoilers, it isn't).

Consider the following:
You just have bad taste. The music itself is excellent.

No one's doing that.
You just press play and enjoy it and that's it.

What do you want me to do? Scan my brain while I listen to it to make sure I like it? You're getting so mad trying to pose and someone with taste and it's weird too.

pose as*
i know normies like to point out typos instead of talk about music so I'll correct myself

>recorded like shit
>shit singing
>lazy spoken word lyrics, affected carelessness
yeah sure buddy, great music.
>you just press play, turn it off after one song, and go tell your hipster friends you love it so much that it defines your entire character as a guy with hip taste
FTFY

>pleb can't into non conventional aesthetic
Typical

The Velvet Underground were truly the Seinfeld of rock music

t. brainlet

non conventional =/= literal shit
I mean if you stink are you saying your smell is great, just non conventional?

No we're saying you have shit taste and that they're good.

>N-no, it's supposed to sound that way!
Jesus christ I'm actually depressed thinking about "noise rock" fans. What the fuck is wrong with our species.

Why can't you just accept you're the minority here and move on

Suddenly popularity is a measure of success? Bad argument, because I'm sure 90% of people would rate TVU as shit if they heard them without knowing who they were and the """legacy""" (people recording literal noise and selling it) they left

Whenever someone shits on the Velvets, I just send them this review because it puts it better than I ever could

How is popularity not a measure of success
If a band is well known and widely praised we call that band "successful".

they remind me of all the bands i like, except they believe what they're doing.

OP here. Just wanted to come out and say it: this whole thread was pure bait - TVU is great, unquestionably, and noise rock is one of my favorite umbrella genres. Thanks for the good times.

Terrible review

This thread may be bait, but I gotta thank you for this rec. I'd never heard of these guys before, and I can tell they're right up my alley. Thanks user.

With the exception of Squeeze, VU never put out a bad record.

VU haters, please KYS!

tfw i didnt like TVU when i first heard them in 2012/2013 and I recently picked them up again because my musical taste is better and more expanded now.

white light/white heat is a top 5 album for me without a doubt, sister ray was so innovative for it's time for being so fucking raw.
