Bricks are just wherever you have no natural rocks. That's why they are common in Germany only on the North European plain. Burn a bit of clay you can find anywhere and you have your construction material.

That's not brick but plastered insulation. It's cheaper with new building standards. When we use brick, we use it because you don't have to paint it, ever. It's expensive at first but a lot less work afterward.
