Girl asks you what type of music you like

>Girl asks you what type of music you like
>Can't mention too obscure shit
>Can't mention too plebeian music or she'll think you are pleb and lose respect for you

What have you done in that situation, Sup Forums? Help me.

>Can't mention too plebeian music or she'll think you are pleb and lose respect for you

that's where you're wrong. just throw out some middle of the road shit like tame impala or toro y moi or some shit

Radiohead

just say you like Elliott Smith and she'll fuck you on the spot

80's R&B

hahahha sucks to be you
I don't have this problem because I never talk to girls

say avant pop

kid rock

these

Chance the Rapper
Marvin Gaye
Whatever she's a normie and thinks anything outside of top 40 is 'weird' anyway

>"Ah just some [genre] stuff like [slightly obscure band/artist], [very obscure band/artist], and [not obscure at all band/artist]"
Make sure the ones you pick are easy to remember, so like I'd say "Rock music; Radiohead; Velvet Underground; Pink Floyd]"

tame impala the strokes gorillaz

>women
>patrician
kek

Brand new
Vince staples
Son lux

I always say "boring stuff". Not a fan of hooking up because of my music preferences.

Just don't worry about it. You will show her cool music and she will show you cool music. My wife showed me Krautrock and I showed her Memphis rap tapes. We both learned something and both felt equally patrish

brin wilsun

What does your wife's son listen to?

"Video game soundtracks" always makes them wet.

>"What kind of music do you make?"
>can't really specify because they'll think I'm a retard or something
>"I make uuuuh..."
>"uuuuh..."
>"ELECTRONIC, I make electronic music...heh"

How about you stop being a massive aspie and just tell them what you actually listen to?

>at party
>absolutely smashed
>T H I C C brunette comes over, friend of a friend
>make small talk
>talk about hobbies n' stuff
>mention I've been getting into music lately
>she likes [generic college girl music I can't even remember]
>I start getting into the conversation telling about obscure artists I'm discovering
>begin playing Vladimir Oidupaa for her
>then I go on to talking about fucking Gerogerigegege
>describe "Night" to her in vivid detail (it's literally shit)
>have no idea why she didn't come back after having to pee until the morning after

...

I always say "lately I've been into because it doesn't box you into something. "Oh, lately I've been listening to a lot of ambient music, must be the season" something like that

A girl hasn't spoken to me on her own volition since high school. I don't even think I've talked to another person about music. My lab partner for this upper level genetics lab I'm taking is a girl, yet we barely talk outside of what's necessary for the experiment that day. She tried small talk a few weeks ago by asking what other classes I'm taking, and I actually said 'I don't know.' I should add, this isn't something I do because I think it's funny, or because I'm an asshole; this isn't something I choose. I fucking hate myself and who I am. If a girl asked me about music, I'd probably freeze up and say nothing.

It's good that you don't mind sounding like an idiot. Women love confidence.

well what i do is answer honestly without going full sperg have you tried that?

It's not like she's asking what kind of porn you're jackin it to you fucking moron. Just tell the truth.

Fucking autist.

>I listen 2 The Death Grips xD their a really good rap group but it doestn sound liek rap its like metal \m/ i also listen 2 grrimez & KUNG FU KENNY XDDD

i tried answering honestly and they just had a huh? look in their face. so now i just mention REM, radiohead, Beach Boys. agreeable shit like that

The trick to talking about music you like without sounding like a dick is to talk about the genre you like to listen too. The broader the better

i usually would rather someone tells me what they listen to first so i can at least list off the sections of my music taste they're aware of

Name genres, keep it simple. You're a fan of jazz not Afrobeat and Free-improvisation.

>almost exclusively listen to noise, noise rock and black metal
>qt rocker looking chick asks me what I listen to
>"uhhhhh.... y'know, mostly m-metal"
>conversation quickly ends because I'm pure spagetty
>find out later she's in a power electronics group
and that's how I started being honest when people ask me about music

>run radio show for avant-garde and experimental music
>People ask me what I listen to
>"The stuff I play on the radio, mainly obscure and odd stuff"
>"Oh that makes sense"

This is really easy, I usually follow it up by saying not everything I listen to is strange and I can definitely give them some certified bangers if they ask.

>listened to nothing but Blink 1488 for several months
>discover his other music
>tfw good parodies and original material
>think that's all the music within that particular sub genre
>discover White Hot Takes
>discover Mr. Bond
>listen to nothing but white nationalist parodies for two years
>her: "what's your favorite band"
>Modest Mouse
>mfw

master

Nick Cave.

>rap
Sounds like your wife is a patrician and you're a fucking pleb

>>Girl asks you what type of music you like
I'll update you guys when this happens

>rap is crap lol XD

Big Black
Red House Painters
Nick Drake

Pleb shit. Seriously, get over Radiohead after your first month here

Yes

why do girls have such bad taste in music?

>I listen to a lot of different stuff. I try to listen to something new every day :)

You could say this about any normie, girls and guys both included
Normies love whatever's hot and fresh

ive seen this video

If a girl asks you what type of music you listen to, that means everything else about you is boring. She talks to Chad, she's caught up in his BASE jumping stories or whatever.

gib name plz

Good scene the one on the left has an actual personality

Oh shit I meant right

yeah but at least in my experience normie guys at least like good mainstream rappers and rock bands. also i've never met a 'patrician girl' irl nor online.

Marina and the diamonds, Grimes, Lana del Rey, Carly Jepsen, St. Vincent.

I feel exactly the same bro. And its not about girls because while you don't want people to judge you or be bored, you also want to convey your love for music. And that can never be done with small talk and even less if the other person doesn't want to hear it

I mean, at least try come on.

And even if you wanna talk about more obscure stuff, you just gotta do it with some confidence, not some self conscious little bitch and you might actually get her interested and you could talk about what exactly you like about this music.

this is so easy s m h. just name broad genres. my go to is
>i really like rock. especially punk and metal. but i listen to a little bit of everything

Surf rock.

dude she's gonna assume youre gay

easy

if you know what she likes is easier, if she likes Arctic Monkeys then say you like Strokes, if she likes Lana del Rey then you like Asap Rocky

if you dont know what she likes then try to ask her back, say you like some alternative and clasic, then inmediately ask her what she likes and then you can throw names

just get into punk music If they don't like punk they clearly are mentally ill in some way shape or form
