cloud rap was invented by lil b

unironically better than DAMN.

did you just start listening to music a year ago

If you at least called it dream trap I would of given you a pass, but dream rap was invented ages ago

love this tape desu

Most cloud rap has clean rapping over it, the raps on this are mostly mumbled and there's so many adlibs that it sounds like there's three or four people rapping at once, that gives it a dreamy atmosphere, almost shoegazey desu, not just the beats.

>dream-hop
>literally just cloud rap

you didn't even try OP

eyyy love this

on spotify my tracklisting looks like this:
Location
Magnolia
Let It Go
Half & Half
New Choppa
dothatshit!
Flex
Kelly K

check out this album with only listening to those songs its fucking glorious

gonna try this in like 20 mins, will come back and say how it was

Is there such a thing as dream-hop? I know of cloud rap, but even then the production seems to lean too heavily on rap production norms- it's not dreamy enough. Are there any hip-hop albums that are closer to dream pop?

>shootin at dee op runnen on da blah scootin ery op
is this peak rap "music"?

yeah, let me know how you like it. i removed all the songs i didn't like. Which ended up just having all the dream-hop songs on it, lol.

he doesnt make the beats tho

MONEY STAND TALL YAO MING

this is actually an interesting idea user if we took some location-style beats and obscured the vocals more we'd be on to some shoegaze rap

I feel like to truly appreciate the album. Realize that Carti is not adlibbing. He knows the lyrics, but what he is trying to do is create that feeling of losing a words meaning by repeating it. He is really trying to make you focus on the music, not the rapper.

And while Cloud Rap tries to achieve a holy vibe. Carti's style of music is much more grounded with a heavy bass, and friendly melodies. Carti's album is definitely the freshest material that 2017 has provided. And I'm interested to see more from this enigma, "Playboi Cart."

That's not really what I'm looking for. Like I said, they're not dreamy enough- the vocals are way too clear and those trap hi-hats ruin any dreaminess that could've been. I'm talking literally Cocteau Twins with rapping over it.

It's pathetic really, this nigga is carried 100% by his production, in fact the tape would be better without any vocals

nobody connects to music without vocals you idiot. people said that same thing with death grips.

meme answer is clouddead but i dont think anyones really made that in a mainstream acceptable way except carti

NO. 9

I mean carti's incessant ad libbing and lazy lyricism hinder the tape. Death grips isn't comparable because ride's vocals are actually interesting, not just background drivel thrown over a beat.

It's part of the music though, like the vocals on Loveless, nobody can hear them but it wouldn't be the same if it was instrumental

yall check out uno's new tape

unos vocals dont feel as dreamy to me as carti's do idk

liked that tracklisting but i think lookin & wokeuplikethis are too good to leave out so i'ma just stick with the regular listing

very surprised that everyone on /mu isn't hating on this album honestly, i love it, just surprised

What songs should I start with on the tape?
