I simply wanted to ask if people in general (and around here) still use Soulseek.
I just started using it. Didn't really care to give it a shot, thinking it was kinda passed over by now. And I was very very mistaken. It's way easier than spending so much time going through those reeking obscure torrent websites to find my precious .flacs.
But I get the feeling that I'm late for the party. Is Soulseek still worth using and relying on?

i only use it when i cant find something on rutracker or there are no seeders for something
when my usual torrent sources fail me soulseek will usually have the harder stuff to find, only thing that sucks is queues that seem to last forever. It's really good for finding obscure stuff imo.
Definitely, the userbase is as live as ever, just don't forget to share.
It is absolutely still worth using.
Yeah I use it pretty much 24/7 it is the best.
I gotta question: what can you do when a file has a lock next to it? do you have to message the person to see if they'll share?
Normally yes, but some people are straight up cunts who do "trades", you give them something rare and they hook you up in return, stay as far as possible from THAT side of SS.
it's definitely a service worth using. word of advice though, offer files to download. it's a give and take thing. i don't mind people downloading single releases from me if they don't have files to share, but most go for entire artist discographies without sharing a single file and that irks me. if i had decent internet i wouldn't give a damn, but i don't, so i do. i must ban a few people per day just because they download discographies or huge amounts of files without sharing anything substantial.
also slsk isn't just for music. i use it for ebooks too. some people share video files but it's not really practical for that imo.
yes. most people are pretty cool about letting you grab stuff from them though. in general the slsk community is pretty great.
