Should every band have a no photo/video policy?

Should every band have a no photo/video policy?

Yes, you're there to enjoy the music, not your fucking fartphone.

Yea, the event is paid for so only the people who paid should see the show, unless your doing a setlist at a dive bar or aren't getting paid for the set then no videos or photos while there. The line is thin though as exposure and popularity is also a factor that should be taken into account before any rules are set in stone.

wrong
lots of fucking bands don't even tour near certain areas. why limit technology like that?

Yes. Bugmen and women love to take pics and vids at shows and it's absolutely disgusting. It actually ruins the show for other concert goers.
>G-guys look I'm at a concert with friends give me a dopamine surge via cyber likes

Technology needs to be limited, it's taking over the planet, like AI. Don't put your faith in machines, lest you become one. We are not machines, we are men!

pictures are alright but video is fucking pointless. the audio quality is always absurdly bad so it's like what's the point? people just feel the fucking need to record everything even though they won't actually look back at it at all

What disrespect. You should be thankful that people are sharing your bands music and live footage, ungrateful cunts.

wasn't for videos. i would never have seen aphex twin's sets live. pls fuck off

Why didn't you just pay to go to the show?

We are Devo
D-E-V-O

Depends on the show. If the show is about immediacy and interaction, then yes. If it's about entertainment than no. Basically, if the band is still putting it's heart and soul in, and there's a solid community of people who are all living in the moment, being connected, put away your fucking phone you stupid normie.

Eh it depends how disrespectfull they're acting. You can't hold up your Ipad like its a fucking billboard. Their is a grey area of acceptability

Honestly this. Can't believe it when out of touch ppl make no photo rules in this age.

this is literally the gayest shit i've seen on earth. i cant even express my disgust for this kind of policy

i was 5 yrs old in the 90s dummy

So? Your parents were unemployed? Aphex Twin never did over-18 shows.

>You should be thankful
This is a retarded argument. No one serious about their art would prefer the "exposure" of 3 normies liking the shaky and distorted clip to an audience of people actually engaged in their performance enough to put their fucking phones away for an hour.
If I was giving it my all performing art that meant a lot to me and saw a bunch of numales staring down typing captions for InstaJew I'd be so fucking mad.

*tips*

How does Sup Forums feel about actual cameras? Acceptable?

holy shit you are a loser. as if he would remember or even enjoy it as a 5 year old. There is nothing wrong with taking videos of concerts. I have videos from concerts that I really enjoyed years ago that I still go back and watch.

these people deserved it desu. if you saw the sign and still tried to get a clip for your instagram story you dug your own grave.

Also literally who is this band?

I think its ok as long that's something explained before purchasing a concert ticket.

smart bands let people plug in to the soundboard

t. Soyboy virgin

It's up to the artist then. Obey the rules like everybody else and stop being a snotnosed teen.

That's one of the stupidest fucking rules I've ever heard

People paid good money to see your shitty show, they should be able to record and take pics as long as there's no flash and it ain't bothering anyone.

Plus having your performance recorded and posted online is good publicity, could help sell more tickets if your performance isn't shit.

ok and that's perfectly fine, but most concerts don't have those rules. they just don't want flash on, so don't act entitled when you don't record footage of a concert and others do.

the people who get the most angry about others recording a fucking live song are the neckbeards scared of being in someone's video

Nice strawman. It's still up to the artist, not all artists are 'neckbeards'.

t. no self awareness. How many shows have you been to big guy?

not talking about the artists - like I said if they make that I rule that is fine and I will respect it.

I'm talking about all the people in this thread acting like recording concerts is the worst thing you can possibly do

I'm a girl and I've been to plenty

>If I was giving it my all performing art that meant a lot to me and saw a bunch of numales staring down typing captions for InstaJew I'd be so fucking mad.
worrying about dumb shit like this is why you will never be a good artist

Oh ok. That explains why you get so upset over strangers doing shit that literally doesn't affect you at all

Too bad only like 3 of these exist. Even NIN wouldn't let you just patch into SDB unless they forgot their sound engineer somewhere and your friend is working the board

As a taper:
Technically almost every event is forbidden like this, no one just enforces it most of the time. Take a look at your seller's ToS next time.
I have to respect artists wishes, but they should also realize that they will just create a piracy/black market if they ban recordings
Phone videos are actually of very decent quality now and can handle most venues just fine.

Except most people take a quick video and then put their phones away, those people will show it off likely to more people that aren't able to attend the show who might be interested to go to one closer to their home city.
>If I was giving it my all performing art that meant a lot to me and saw a bunch of numales staring down typing captions for InstaJew I'd be so fucking mad.
Good thing you arent a touring musician then because if you cared enough to tell those people off that'd be your last tour as a professional musician you fucking moron. Music is an industry designed to make money, fucking over people sharing your stuff to others is a disgrace and any manager would tell the band to stop doing that shit or they'd quit. Throwing away free organic viral marketing over petty bullshit is why you probably will never make it big. Guys like Swans, Ariel Pink or Godspeed You Black Emperor don't care so why should anyone else?

Personally im putting my own recorder in for shows and then putting online for free or pay as you want so people will pay to come to shows later. Convenience is king and if it gives them a good impression of how our shows will be then thats fucking gold especially if they take the time to download the live recordings much less buy it.

There's usually a professional at shows shooting footage and releasing. Do you know how fucking retarded you guys look with a thousand phones in the air trying to get shaky fucking footage of the band and releasing it on youtube like you're doing everyone a favour? There's no fucking life at concerts anymore with everyone standing there.

Yeah dude all the bands in the world are professionally taping every show on their tour. Jesus you're fucking retarded.

>implying all bands can afford professional video and taping of shows
Not every band is fucking Coldplay, go watch more local acts

Not even the biggest ones can afford to do one release per tour, yet alone most shows as that idiot implies.
