Is anyone on Sup Forums in the Military? What Branch and what is it like? I'm thinking about joining after college but I'm not sure where to go or if I have what it takes. Help me Sup Forums

>tfw singapore has conscription

As badass as it sounds dont enlist. Commisioned is the way to go.

You will be mocked for having a college education.

joining the Air Force, kind of regretting it already, feels like a joke of a branch

It sucks dick. They don't give a shit about you.

>Commisioned is the way to go.
Nope. You'll be stuck in promote or leave.

Enlisted for at least 4.
>Little extra pay
>A bit of respect from enlisted

...

Air Force is your best option what are you talking about

>Best treatment while in
>Looks best on a resume when you get out because 'only smart people join the air force'

I say this as enlisted Army

Currently a 74D CBRN specialist for the US Army. I'm thinking about reclassing to a MP.

I like it so far, basic was okay had it at FT. Leonardwood. I'm enjoying the aspect of constant death by deadly shit. Right now I'm specializing in how to cleanup nuclear accidents.

I'll probably be sent off to zipper land after completion to work with the Fukishma reactor

What're you gonna be doing? I was sort of thinking that or the marines, but I don't know if I could deal with the marine's basic training

Good goy

How do you get a role like that?

Also this, if you want to retire from the military, with the way it's set up now you have to game the system. Start enlisted, then go officer after you make E-5, E-6, that way you're less likely to be kicked out for stalling on an officer promotion

Enlisted Army here. Join the Air Force, go officer if you can.

Fight wars for Jews?

Why?

>its a "newfag from Sup Forums desperately trying to fit in" post

Muhreen here

Its alright I guess, got to do a little travelling and got to see the middle east for what ever it was worth.

Also I got /fit/ and I get to go to college after to give back to the US so it turned out to be ok

Let me ask you something user. Look at the state of this country, look at the culture, look at your fellow Americans...are these people you really want to serve? You already have your education, why lower yourself to be in the new PC military? I was in the Army and I got out May 2015, if I could do it again, I'm not sure I would.

How was boot camp? Looks hard as shit

Why would you do this?

...

Airman here, the air force is like a corporation, not a brotherhood or a gang or whatever. If you have any questions, I'll answer them to the best I can.

Army Reserve here

We serve the Jews. Know from personal experience. Best Advice. DON'T JOIN

Is it true that the Air Force is filled with hair gel wearing metrosexuals?

Well I have no idea what I would want to do in the air force but it seems pretty appealing. Any recommendations for a career in the air force?

Second. Air Force is dope as fuck.

I did 20 years in the Army, OP. Wars for Israel isn't cool. Decent benefits though. I get a pension check every month. Can't complain. Lost some good friends in the Bush Crime Family's meaningless $3T Iraq clusterfuck. The neocons' days are numbered though.

Basically don't.

No matter the branch, it's full of morons and bureaucratic nightmare. Right now, it's mostly a peacetime military during budget cuts so it's roughly 1000x worse.

Don't get me wrong, there are great people in, but fuck me if you'll only rarely get to interact with them and most of the time the worst ones will be the ones you end up having to depend on for something or another.

Seriously, there are other, easier ways to get your loans paid off/forgiven, and far better ways to build connections.

As for foregoing whatever veterans benefits, they really aren't great/useful. You can't even really leverage it for an advantage in getting a job (barring the additional points for vet preference for government jobs) because EVERYBODY IS A VET...not really, but when you have a decade plus of war, you end up with a shitton of vets to the point where basically no one cares.

Depends on what you are interested in. And how smart you are.

Get your college education taken care of, start training right now for the PST, submit your shit to the Navy to try and become a SEAL Officer, perform almost perfectly at OCS, afterwards hope that you get accepted.

If you're not accepted to BUD/S as an officer, then that's fine. Just go the enlisted route for the Navy SEALs and apply for OCS in a couple of years to become a SEAL Officer.

If you want to join the military, then go all of the way and do some extreme shit. It doesn't have to be the SEALs either. Try to become a pilot, diver, para rescue, a special operations boatman, or something on the lines of this shit.

Meteorologist, 1w0x1, in the Air Force here. Ask me any questions about the branch.

Why yes, I am wearing hair gel right now.

After successful completion of your AIT (advanced individual training) if you want to continue and specialize in a specific area, as I wanted to learn more about radiation I got the opportunity to learn more about it

And when you wash out have fun being an MP

Only Sailorfag so far checkin in. Go navy if you want to travel. Otherwise go Airforce... I know I should have! Thinking about going Airforce Commissioning if I'm not too old by then though.

Lmao government shills filtered and reported

there's always one of the guard services

I went to boot camp in a weird fuckin' time.

The PC rules were barely being put in place but my DIs said they didn't give a shit about all that and I still got all the fun games and character building.

Its mostly mind games, you put out and they'll still fuck with you but you won't get singled out.

You keep your head down and do what youre told as fast as you can and scream loud as shit.

Only real shitty thing is when you get an edgelord who constantly fucks everything up for the platoon

and then there's THIS faggot...

Thanks for the answer.

I was in the Navy for 6 years. Traveling was fun, but the actual work and all the rules get old. Be prepared to stay late and superiors who think work is the only thing in the world.

I was in the navy for eight years.

If you want to go that route, be in the Seabees. Shit is chill as fuck.

I was in the coast guard. It was actually pretty great. Patrolled a popular vacation area. Plenty of pussy, almost zero chance of dying, can claim vet status.

With a degree you might even be eligible to be an officer.

>Promoted to E-6
>Commissioned at nine years
>Retired O-4

Would not do it again or recommend it to others.

Contracting, desk jockey

why's that?

I signed a contract as a GM and ship out in a month, anything that I should know about the rate?

Is it true the Air Force is filled to the brim with careerist ass kissers, SJW women and basketball americans that will fuck you over if it makes them look good or feel better?

I'm in army intelligence.

98% want to kill myself and am disgusted by the depravity of bureaucracy that encompasses my life, the government, and my life under the government.

The rest of the time I'm shooting machine guns and jumping out of airplanes and shit.

Its filled with way too much politically faggotry.

For the love of god pick a job that will give you experience in something for when you get out. Shit like the various avionics, electronics, commo tech, and that kind of deal. If you're talking officer corps, I don't know about how the zoomies do it, but in the Army, unless you're going in as some kind of professional specialist (doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc.) you only get to fill out a list of what your preferences are which they then immediately throw in the garbage can and stick you where they need you.

What's with the disdain?

Don't think about going an hero user.
Divert that energy to something more positive like the european race war.

Truth, I got stuck as a crew chief. If you do decide to enlist, make sure you make your recruiter get you the job you want, it could take 9 months or over a year, happens often.

I'll be trying to get accepted to the Air Force Academy as enlisted, anyone know someone that did it?

Not in the service, but I am an IT contractor. I get to make my high salary because of the bloated value of each contract, operate largely outside of red tape faggotry, and go home every day -- usually early.

The only downside is no free money and GI bills and pension shit, but whatever.

I knew an MI guy that joined us in the Infantry. He was happier with us despite the IEDs, constant patrolling, and continuously getting shit on.

Helpful tip, when this thread dies down go to /k/ and look for the MEG (Military General) threads and ask questions. You'll get some more help there for sure

I was thinking about going to law school after I got out
Geospatial Intelligence seems interesting, but I only have like a 3.0 GPA though.

As a 21 year old who is constantly broke all the time, poor, living in his mothers attic, and is about to transfer schools (a long story) and lose 24 college credits out of the 54 I had in Electrical Engineering. I also haven't done a push up or run more than a block since highschool so completely out of shape.

Should I just join. I can't get a job and it fucking pisses me off. And although I am going back to school soon hopefully this college transfer is setting me back by 2 years, and is turning a 4-5 years into 6 with 100% smooth sailing.

Meant for

If you are intelligent, DON'T enlist. Only cornfed dumbfuck rednecks and minorities enlist.

Go the officer route or don't go at all.
If you're retarded, enlist.

You will know what i'm talking about if you go through with it.

I'm attached to an SF group, so I've felt that before. But in garrison...jesus christ.

Thanks m8, definitely will

>I was thinking about going to law school after I got out
Honestly, if you're wanting to do law school, do it now. A three-five year military pit stop won't do that much for you. At worst, it'll fuck your study skills (going back to school is hard as fuck, don't let anyone tell you any different -- taking a few years of not using a skill *will* erode that skill, your vocabulary will shrink, you'll read slower, you'll think slower).

The only way I might almost tell you to go ahead with the military is if you literally cannot figure out some other way to afford school and can't get loans.

Go visit a recruiter and tell him/her your intentions to join and that you're working on getting in shape. They'll give you the physical requirements you need to join. Pick yourself a job in the AF that will translate into the civilian sector, just in case you decide to get out.

>t. Chair Force fucking off at work

Yeah in the military you are basically a servant to the state.
Never forget what Henry Kissinger said.

FINISH. FUCKING. SCHOOL.

I don't give a damn what kind of shit you have to debase yourself to do, but finish school.

For the love of god trust me on this.

As for the credits, go and sit down with the department head at the school you're transferring to and try to work something out.

One of my old instructors told me you could avoid most of that by staying E-6 or O-3.

If you lack ambition, and are willing to suck a little dick in the form of constantly moving around, etc., the armed services might be alright for you.

>get undergrad degree
>get graduate degree if you REALLY like debt
>join as an officer
>10 years in, loans 100% paid off
>20 years in, retire
>You're only like 40, have guaranteed income for life and most likely a free Top Secret clearance, and are pmuch guaranteed a like GS-14 civil service job for another 20+ years (if you dont want a ridiculously high paying TS-cleared contractor job private sector)

Eh, enlisting is right for the guys who prefer actually doing shit. Granted a lot of the shit you do is pointless, but it's not the mountains of paperwork and reports that officers have to do.

It's also a pathway to the best fuck-off rank in all of the military: Warrant Officer.

Just got out of AIT for 12b. Im already regretting my decision to join. Dont do it op. Basic was a joke imo

Did you shoot any muslims?

forgot to point out, the implication of all that is this in both DoD and civil service jobs, you don't have to think, cause people above you will tell you what to do, AND you wont be doing much real work anyway.. just dont ever expect to be fulfilled by the job

Yes, do it. At BMT they will make you work out every day, and the requirements are very easy. If you get electrical systems 3e0x1, you will get college credits from your technical training towards your degree, you can also clep tests for insta credits. You'll also get experience and make connections in the field. Starting out you get like 1000-1200$ a month spending money, your meals and housing and utilities are all paid for.

GPA doesn't mean anything, what qualifies you for a job is your ASVAB score, your recruiter will have you take it when you talk to him. Cyber transport and cyber systems ops are pretty interesting too.

Do marines or army accept GED? Wha if i have a high ASVAB score, would they let me join?

They both accept mentally retarded people all the time

You'll be fine

Yes, but only under a pic related gov

oh, and coast guard or chairforce

GSM Navy, don't do it it sucks senpai. Join the army instead or the cushy airforce weenies

The minimum ASVAB for the army is 30, which is basically equivalent of a 90 IQ.

I had issues getting in with a GED, you'll have to see how it works out for you

I wanted to but this situation set me back completely
>Short version
>Was doing great in school
>Out of the blue school says I owe them 4000$
>Bureaucracy, finger pointing and office run around all during midterms and finals week
>Fucks up my entire semester and get D's in everything
>Academic probation
>Now have to pay out of pocket and must pass one semester to get financial aid again
>Pass that class but owe them 2000$ now
>Took this semester off to work and pay them off

>Pay them off only to find out I was no longer a student after one semester and had to reapply to that school
>They were about to let me back in but I had to go to this "special sit down" with administration

>"Realize you may not get financial aid and that you are taking a full course load. If you fail you will be academically dismissed"

My GPA went down even more and I was considered continued probation even though I was taking no classes. And then I did some research on what academic dismissal was.
Any article you read is like someone just sent an obituary to your parents as a forever screw up. With a dismissal I wouldn't be accepted to any school for at least a decade maybe more, Mark of death.

I noped it the fuck out and was looking to transfer to other schools, but sadly all schools only accept 30 credits (If not I would be in and out in under a semester)

My thing is should I work it out and get a associate degree atleast. I heard if you have a 2 year you get bumped to staff Sargent and with 45+ credits I get bumped to E-2

I also will start getting loads of dosh because I rarely go out and would only have to stop myself from buying loads of stupid shit

>3e0x1
This sounds a bit like an electrician

Prepare to spend most of your day guarding a gate.

Peacetime military (not actually at peace, but structured like it is)...you'll have a hard time, but if you've really got a hardon for it, then just keep bugging the shit out of people. Literally everything in the military is waiverable, but part of that is finding someone willing to do the waiver.

ASVAB is basically just low level high school shit. If you have a GED it shouldn't be difficult to do well on it.

This is true for the most part.
Avoid the staff (HQ) jobs and stay at the unit level.
Get a small unit command adn keep it for as long as you can.

However, in today's shit environment you can be the most absolute color blind commander and one basketball american can (and will) fuck your life up with a " dat co-mander bein racist on me."

Not worth it.

Tbh why waste more time and money on an associate's degree when you can go to school for free and get the same degree or higher, while getting paid and your own place to live?

>I heard if you have a 2 year you get bumped to staff Sargent
Nope. SSgt isn't given away, you test for it.

Are you /fit/?
Try for SOF, it looks good even if you drop out.
Are you smart?
Navy or Air force. You're treated like kings if you get a Crypto or intel job.

It's not about killing people user. It's about safety, treating women with respect and worshiping Minorties.

The modern military is a former shell of what it used to be. It was a warrior culture, now it's just a bunch of faggots, welfare queens, and the lowest scum of the fucking earth. I'm still going in regardless though.

a full bach will only get you to e-4.

As for the rest, eh, I still say, fucking find a way to finish school.

Outside of that, if you do end up doing the military thing, Navy, Air Force, or Coastie are your best choices, but realize if you finish your degree while in, it'll usually just be online shit.

If they're (the school where you get to keep your credits) going to let you back in, that's seriously your best bet even if you do have to pay out of pocket.

Ex-Navy. Submarine force. None of you will ever do what I did. I win.

You will, at most, graduate BMT as an A1C, SrA is a time in grade promotion.

Ah, Army you at least used to, be able to start of as a specialist if you came in with a bach.

Hey, do you know about the LEAD program at all?
Hoping to apply after being enlisted for a couple years

not at all, but i guess I have 4 years to work on it
>tfw 5'10 130 pounds

No I don't. I remember getting an email from supervision about applying a few months ago but I'm getting out so I deleted it.

US Army air defense artillery, to many wannabe infantry types and shammers

Im a Warrant Officer (131A - Targeting Technician) in the US Army, currently in Afghanistan. It's pretty fucking great actually. I plan, control and coordinate all of the fire support assets in my area of operations... artillery, mortars, rotary wing attack and fixed wing aviation and rockets/missiles. I also deal with non lethal effects such as electronic warfare, psyops, military deception, civil military operations, etc. I study and analyze the enemy and the battlefield and determine the best asset to use the achieve the desire effect. A few days ago we had eyes on an insurgent safehouse thst had been used to stage attacks on Afghan National Army soldiers, so I put a 500lb bomb on it and blew it the fuck up. Got a fist bump from my commanding general.

Alright worth a shot, thanks bro.

Also, do you have any tips for what to put down on the PDS dream sheet? I want to get stationed in Europe so bad, trying to think of ways to make it happen
