Its called blanks. When you fire blank rounds on a set, there is no kickback. You cant have live rounds on a set, its very difficult to imitate kick back.

There is a word for this, I forgot what, but from certain perspectives people can look cockeyed when they are not. Both eyes dont turn to the same direction when viewed from a specific angel.

Oshii looks kind of defeated. Although the fact that he's involved at all makes me happy. Should have got Masamune Shirow (the dude who wrote the original manga) on there as well.
The set designs and props actually look pretty good. I wasnt impressed by the clips but it actually seems to be shaping up well.
The nude-robot suit kind of retracts from the themes of the original but i understand why they did it. To get past ratings and conceal scarlett's frumpy skinnyfat body etc. I really think someone like rooney mara would have been better for the role.

Will we see a berserk/evangelion film series in the future? Hollywood is obviously bleeding comic source material dry and if this film does well they might look to japan for inspiration which will hopefully lead to less kid friendly pg13 films being made based on manga/anime.

Pretty much this. When Hollywood resorts to converting animes to live action (but it still mostly cgi...) then you know you've hit rock bottom. There is zero chance Ghost in the Shell, or anyother decent anime movie, can be done better in "live action". It will just end up being a poor copy.

there's so much content to cover in berserk, it's hard to imagine it being done in any way other than something like a tv show. even the battle angel alita film will only cover a few volumes of the manga.

Tbh it depends how successful it would be.
They could just start with the golden age arc as a a trilogy and turn it to a running series of films (like harry potter for lack of a better example) if it was successful enough. This would work because they could cast guts in the first film as 18/19 and then by the time the second film is out he'd be in his 20s. I think it could be done if they trimmed a lot of the fat from the manga, similarly to the 1997 show. Imagine a berserk film with the production values of something like lord of the rings. I'd be hyped as fuck.
