JUNE 3 AND JUNE 4 - DUAL AT DETROIT

sugoi desu

Alonslowed to 0 mph lol

Reminder the winner of the Indy 500 gets a baller as fuck ring

I LOVU THIS PRACE

rossiposse

Oh man
compare that broadcast to 2012
The complete 180 in emotions is amazing

Somebody should make a comparison video

Sato confirmed the first Japanese member of the BIG BALLER BRAND

SAIDO BAI SAIDO

WHO /BIGBALLER/ HERE

Sato back on /f1/ when?

fuck /f1/
they throw away perfectly good drivers to have their little Mercedes parade

replacing Joe Lee and Palmer next gp desu

WE OUT HERE. Can't wait for the Indycar x BBB promo hats.

>Tfw a Big Baller™ was created today

Alonso = small baller

Only small baller I know is Lewis Hamilton

>Lewis Hamilton
I hope he goes to NASCAR and gets completely BTFO

Alonso wasn't going to podium even without engine problems...

he is a microscopic baller in a series of small ballers

>People doubted Sato
>He even lost his top position for a while
>Everything seemed lost
>But he still went all the way and edged out Helio for his finest moment yet

DOMO ARIGATO MR. SATO

I was satoposting all week, competely buzzing when I saw him cross the finish in person. I yelled omedetou at him on the parade lap

Lets now benchrace Alonso.
He looked great but I'm not sure he ever had a shot at top 5 let alone first.

me too
I told all these alonso fuckers Sato would win since Rookie Day

Yeah he would've probably ended up behind Montoya. He's got balls but not the experience to make other parts of the track work like guys like Servia or Helio were.

Servia was racing better than Alonso I agree

>/f1/ comes into the thread all smug
>gets completely unequivocally BLOWN THE FUCK OUT harder than Alonso's engine did

best part of the race desu

I thought he was going to win it with how he was running that last stint, he wouldn't have had the problems the others did getting around Chilton because of how good he had the extreme high line working.

Europeans are snobs.

They slowly realizing their drivers are nothing special.

yeah

the best part was them trying to claim Sato's win as their own after shitting on him all thread

>hah, Sato is a shitty Jap F1 reject. shit series
>Sato wins
>b...but he was still in F1, Americans BTFO!

youtube.com/watch?v=v6kstS0uYAQ

Post Race Interview

He definitely had a shot at a top 5
He got cucked out of a shot at the win by pit strategy

Ehh I don't think that's true. I'll have to watch it again

>not using this pic

But yet another former F1 driver wins, this is proper meme racing. I love indy now

Japanese TV ver

>Japanese Anthem played on memorial weekend Indy 500

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

t. Drumpf Voters

do so
He wasn't going to win when the engine went boom
Top 5 definitely though

Lost my mind when Sato won
t. drump voter

Keeping the 4-time winner club all-American is more important

You're the only one who's mad here. Pagenaud wasn't going anywhere, Absolutely Karam had long since exited the race and Sato was the only guy left in the top positions who I really cared about.

I do think the new rule where each car has to spend part of the race completely off the ground should be more widely adopted.

"The Indianapolis 500 presented by AntiGravity"

I'ma ask again...
How high did he get?
15 ft?
20 ft?
only 10 ft?
I cannot tell
Help me

Crash fence at Indy is about 20 ft high. The back end of Dixon's car probably got that high, and Dixon himself was about 15 ft up.

I'm estimating that from the Turn 2 camera, which is pretty high in the air. If there's a ground level camera, or someone has Dixon's in-car, that would be more accurate.

Lets quit pretending Alonso had a chance. He was racing hard core balls to the wall right from the start and still dropped 4 position when his engine saved him from embarrassment.

Just got home

gotta be my favorite winner but it's close with when TK won

my throat hurts from screaming for Sato and Helio at the same time. Helio really drove the fuck out of his p.o.s penske today

also tendieloin was good but why the hell did they try to force bacon onto it

the only ones pretending that were /f1/

Practically the same experience here. I had an Indy Dog© though

Alonso and Sato had similar equipment and were on similar pit strategies. While Alonso winning was a long shot, if only because of his inexperience in timing the passes on the last 2-3 laps, had his Civic not expired he certainly had a chance.

The guy is fast.

Also I saw a japanese couple wearing full yukata at the museum around 9 am. I wanted to weeb out and say "ganbare taku" but I wimped out and didn't want to expose power levels to family

shamefur dispray

>belle isle

>tfw finally understand the >F1 posters/fans are horrible meme

>Detoilet

>Ywn win the Indy 500 and get the ring so you can say 'Yeah, I won the race'.

hey at least /f1/ won't shit up the threads

>all the andretti cars were fast and led laps and looked like winning cars
>except marco

>Dixon crashes
>Sato wins
fucking bizarro world.

>Marco is now the only one out of the 4 Andretti Autosport full time drivers to not win the 500

didnt see race today. how did montoya and wheldon do?

NEW CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS STANDINGS:

lots of ties right now. I'm excluding all the part-time drivers, and Bourdais since his season is over.

1. Castroneves 245
2. Pagenaud/Sato/Dixon 234
3. Rossi 190
4. Kanaan 188
5. Power/Newgarden 186
6. Jones 185
7. Hinchcliffe/Chilton 170
8. Hunter-Reay 152
9. Hildebrand 148
10. Andretti 147
11. Rahal 144
12. Aleshin 134
13. Munoz 133
14. Kimball 99
15. Daly 88

>triple tie for 2nd

Bourdais said he wanted to be ready for Le Mans, but realistically, he will probably be good to go sometime late summer. It's a shame too since he was doing so well this year in what is typically a mid-pack car.

Realistically, he probably won't even be off crutches by Le Mans, let alone cleared to race.

Hildebrand missed a race but I figured he still counts as full time.

but some fun facts:

>Carpenter only races ovals and still has 6 more points than Kimball
wew

>THREE part time drivers (Carpenter, Pigot, Montoya) all have more points than Daly
WEW

Yeah, that came from the Racer.com pre-500 youtube thing from Saturday. It's totally unrealistic that he'll be ready for Le Mans, but I'm glad that he's ready and optimistic about getting back into a race car.

That's mostly the effect of the 500 being double points.

>Cunt Will Power in 5th

Just keep him there, everyone else.

>Our guy Sato in 2nd with Pagenaud

Yesh.

yeah but it still shows who is sucking.

granted, Daly is stuck at Foyt, who are always backmarkers.

but Kimball has NO EXCUSE. he drives for Ganassi, one of the top 3 teams.

Foyt would probably have a better chance if A.J. himself got back in the car, frankly.

by the way, Fernando Alonso has scored 47 points by running Indy.

>47 more than he will score in F1 :^)

I think Seabass' season is over. Being ready on Sept. 1 isn't going to do him any good.

But that he can be ready for anything other than Dan, Jules', and Honda's F1 hopes' golf foursome is a miracle.

[FLASHBACKS TO DRIVEN INSTENSIFY]

Also, you know how the enclosure around the rear wheels are meant to stop cars from flying? well as you saw they failed. No wonder why they're being replaced next year.

this

I think its good that they at least tried to stop wheel to wheel contact, but the reality of it is you will never stop that with open wheel cars.

We anime now.

It's not that the rear pods failed at their designed task, since at some point any physical structure can only accomplish what physics will allow. A driver's survival cell doesn't mean a driver will survive a head-on crash - it just improves their odds of survival in some circumstances.

What launched Dixon's car wasn't even contact with Howard's rear wheel, it was a 45-degree impact with the wheel and the sidepod. Given their relative difference in speed the fact that the tire compression (Howard LR, Dixon RF) launched Dixon over Howard probably saved both their lives. The alternative to air was to t-bone, much like Zanardi and Carpentier in Germany:

youtube.com/watch?v=iPZuj-LpHIc

The rear pods are being dropped because while they probably reduced some of the rear-front wheel contact that will send cars flying, the debris from the pods was itself a safety hazard. Everything is a tradeoff, and IndyCar and Dallara right now are betting they can manage the front-rear contact via driver instructions and race control (since the real fault at LV 2011 was ever running pack racing at that speed), and take that risk in exchange for the reduced risk of debris from damaged rear pods.

thanks friendo

One word
>Honda

Absolute madman

h-he's fast!

Dude, I was cheering more for him than I was for Helio Castro Neves

was this the most popular win since Kanaan? I get the impression that he's likes because he's been in the series for a few years now in somewhat mediocre chassis and that he's generally a ballsy driver
