Going to see St. Vincent in a few months
Saw her at Coachella a few years ago. Didn't think it was anything special, then again I'm not a fan to begin with. Heard that David Byrne collab tour gotta lot of praise
Saw Death Grips last night. Even met Zach and Andy at a bar after the show.
seeing Death Grips tomorrow night
What'd you talk about? Hopefully you weren't one of those irl memers like I've seen at every DG show.
Andy was kinda on edge so I just got a handshake. Zach was having a cigarette so I took the opportunity to smoke with him. Told him it was a great show, how we saw them a few years back. I asked him what their plans were after the tour was over and he said finishing the album.
Zach was very nice and chill. He was also taking pics of an emblem on a door at the bar. When they got up to leave me and two friends caught up with and asked if it was okay to get a picture. Zach politely declined, said that that just isn’t something they like to do. We smiled and told him to have a nice, safe night.
I was rolling my balls off so it was hard to keep calm when around them but I didn’t want to draw attention to them because they were honestly just chillin. Andy is fine, Zach is a good guy.
>He was also taking pics of an emblem on a door at the bar
lmao
Cut Copy tomorrow
hello fellow /hou/ user, im hype
true artist. seeing beauty in everything a
Going to see flying lotus next week, I'm pretty excited. Anyone see the new show yet?
me too. see you there /hou/ user. go stros
Came back from seeing Ariel Pink in NOLA yesterday.
Someone needs to shoot the sound people at Tipitina's because damn near everything that wasn't guitar was unintelligible. His set still owned though.
I think his mom tripped and fell before the openers started, too. I felt real fucked about that because it kind of seemed like no one gave a fuck.
I remember some user complaining about the comedienne that opened before him, but she honestly wasn't terrible. It was Bite Marx that fucking sucked.
I'm probably going to go to Telefon Tel Aviv later this month, but I feel weird about it considering the other dude fucking died forever ago.
Seeing run the jewels in January
I remember seeing him at the end of a tour in 2013
Was honestly one of the most disappointing shows I've ever seen, he and his band clearly did not want to be there and every song sounded like a dumbed-down version. I really can't stand asshole musicians.
Saw DRI this week and a bunch of local bands at a festival last week. I'm pretty broke after spending so much on tickets, merch, and drinks but I'm contemplating buying a ticket for an Adolescents show next month that's close to my birthday.
I saw her at Coachella too. I'm not really an avid listener of hers either, but she puts on a decent show.
Saw Blank Banshee last night, full of redditors and pickle rickers
He killed it do
fun fact. one of ministrys guitarists was my therapist in my last trip to rehab
I was afraid of it being like that when I was heading out there too, but the energy at that Tip's show was great. Maybe because his mom was there. Dude sure loves his mom.
Going to see the Diplomats on the 21st. Haven't been to concert in a long time. Might see Snails in December.
Goin' to see Sigur Ros in two weeks. Any advice?
Hope you're doing better
middle of a 19 concert streak since September.
I've seen:
>City & Colour
>Japanese Breakfast
>Fleet Foxes/Beach House
>Grizzly Bear
>Interpol/Deerhunter/Battles
>Gillian Welch
>The War on Drugs
>St. Vincent
>Natalia LaFourcade
>Father John Misty
>Alvvays
>Cults (just yesterday)
I have the following:
>11/10 - Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam
>11/16 - Elbow
>11/17 - LCD Soundsystem
>11/28 - Stars
>11/30 - Dhani Harrison
>12/09 - Franz Ferdinand
>12/13 - Grizzly Bear
and next year, I only have The Go! Team and Steven Wilson so far.
saw ariel pink like 2 weeks ago and i thought it was the fucking most boring garbage set ive seen in a LONG time
Might go see Ariel Pink tomorrow night, I've already seen him once before and he was pretty good. Next week gonna go see Tegan and Sara for their Con anniversary acoustic show, I've never been to a acoustic show before and I love that album so I'm hyped.
Going to see Boris and Torche at the Echoplex in LA.
King Crimson on Saturday
Seeing Alvvays in a couple weeks. Recently saw Mount Eerie and Godspeed
No needle in my arm so things are pretty alright. Sucks when you come to the realization that you won't be able to touch any mind altering substance without losing complete control of your life.
Thanks user
lot of local bands and saw Jay Som a few months ago. the only show I really have plans for is They Might Be Giants, they're coming to my city early next year on the 50 state tour
how was gybe
Tyler on Monday, then John Cale (performing TVU+N) on Thursday. Maaaybe Dylan in two weeks - not sure if it'll be worth it though.
Not him but godspeed live is super freaky. The buildups along with the film they have rolling gets really trippy after a bit
Is Mount Eerie worth seeing?
Seeing Nots next week, maybe Ariel Pink the week after, not too sure about Pink though, it's seated and all the good seats are gone, and I wasn't too into Dedicated to Bobby Jameson
Saw Wolves In the Throne Room (great show) and BTBAM (pretty good show) recently, and a few local bands, mostly emo/indie groups that greatly vary in quality
Missed out on Boris the other day which I'm pissed about. I didn't even have anything going on, just forgot.
Currently /proper gutted/ because John Maus is coming to a 21+ venue the week before my 21st birthday, and Converge sold out literally as I was buying a ticket.
Saw Boris on Halloween. They were touring with a band called Endon who had an awesome show.
Only thing coming up that I have locked in is Alex G.
Were they still on the Pink anniversary tour?
Seeing Cults on Sunday
Nah I think they wrapped that up in the summer
Has anyone seen Parquet Courts? Do they put on a decent show?
seeing mom jeans in a (very small) basement this weekend. never listened to them but I like a decent amount of emo. how good a show should i expect from them? any must listen songs/albums i should prepare myself with? i tend to enjoy shows a lot better if i can recognize at least some of the material
besides that i'll be seeing the roots in december, along with pinegrove for the 100th time. then i've got G!YBE and the mountain goats lined up for spring
excited for you anons. they both put on a great show
how was beach house?
i hope you have a good time, user. i saw alex g abt 5 years ago i remember it very fondly, been wanting to see him again since
last band i saw live was placebo. only been to 5 or so shows this year
will probably go and see sleep, gomez, chelsea wolfe and maybe pond in the next few months. going to two festivals as well
Saw Parquet Courts about a year ago and really enjoyed their show, they sound really good together. IIRC they dont play Stoned and Starving most of the time.
Only ever watched live videos of Mom Jeans on YT but their album is pretty solid. If you're into emo you should definitely enjoy it.
That's a shame. The Pink show was nuts.
I've been obsessed with Alex G so I'm very much looking forward to it. Pretty jealous you got to see him in 2012. That's probably the best possible time given how perfect his discog was up to that point.
saw Slowdive with Blanck Mass opening last month
was really good
Le Guess Who? is happening now. I saw Keiji Haino and Han Bennink yesterday. It was quite insane.
flying to Bristol to see Alvvays in February
will see kendrick lamar in like 2 weeks
Saw Cap'n Jazz a couple of days ago. Haven't got much lined up other than King Gizz next year and local shows.
Went to AJJ, The Hard Aches and The Cactus Channel recently and have world at a glance and cry wank coming up.
AJJ was pretty shit, they played mainly there newer more electric stuff and were rather dull
The Hard Aches were amazing, one of my faviouite up and coming Aus bands, was right up front and the lead singer took a direct request for me, which made me fan girl hard.
youtube.com
youtube.com
Cactus channel as usual were on point.
youtube.com
Crywank are really good, you should know em
World at a glance is a really good skramz outfit from Melbourne
shortstoriesabouttheirdistance.bandcamp.com
Mount Eerie is coming to Melbourne so I am thinking about seeing him. Anyone seen hom perform recently? Was it worth it?
>He was also taking pics of an emblem on a door at the bar
you'll probaly see that on his insta in a about a week or so
I live in rural australia so I don't get to go to many
I saw Elysia Crampton and xiu xiu recently which was good
Saw Death Grips and Flying Lotus so far, gonna see Nails in December with my friend then Brockhampton in January
Going to see Laibach second time next monday
Endon puts on a better show than boris desu
Seeing A Perfect Circle next week, Jason Isbell next month and just got tickets to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor in March.
must be nice living in a first world country. the only thing I have is Sleep Party People in December
Death Grips/Ministry tonight. Day for Night festival next month. Haven't been to any shows this year, though. Been too busy.
Saw Ride and PVRIS this week. Ride was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. PVRIS was kinda weak mostly because Lynn had a cold and lost her voice halfway through the show.
Seeing TOPS tomorrow. Julien Baker, The Residents, The Horrors, Tangerine Dream and PINS next week.
Saw Severed Heads last month.
Thinking seriously about going to see Lights. She was good at Coachella. Heartfelt, sincere performance.
I've recently seen Slowdive, Blanck Mass, Bardo Polo, Liars, GY!BE, Danny Brown and RTJ, would only recommend Slowdive, GY!BE and Danny Brown though
none coming up but last few months I've seen
Mannequin Pussy, Japanese Breakfast, Ride, Borken Social Scene, Zola Jesus, and Chelsea Wolfe
>2017 concerts I went to:
New Order
Sebadoh
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Swans (their final show. It was fucking amazing.)
>2017 concerts I'm going to:
John Carpenter
>2017 concerts I might go to:
Slowdive (they're playing in my state tomorrow night. Should I go? How are they live?)
Guided by Voices
>2018 concerts I'm going to:
They Might Be Giants
That's awesome. I didn't realize that Tom was still touring.
GWAR on Tuesday. Fuckin stoked.
I saw Boris at Days of Darkness. That whole festival was fucking awesome.
I recently saw Arcade Fire and thought they were fantastic live. The Pixies a few weeks before that. St. Vincent next week.
>Death Grips / Ministry
Why do you like that sort of liberal faggot shit? Like Lynyrd Skynyrd instead.
I saw lots of people this year, my favorites were probably John Maus, George Clinton, and Jeff Rosenstock. All the venues near me don't have too much I'm interested in for a bit but my friends and I are seeing Brockhampton in February.
just got tickets for qotsa in NOLA next april. wasn't a huge fan of Villians but i'm excited to finally see them in person
i'm moving to NOLA soon anyways so i'm hoping to go to more shows, never been to concerts before cause i live in b.f.e. lol
How was blanck mass? I might drive a few hours to see him tonight but he's only doing a 40 min set apparently
We had that thought too and took pics of the same emblem, both by itself and with us next to it, like dorks
There’s no beating around the bush the new stuff sucks hard, but half of the show is the classics and the classics are classics for a reason.
We took this. This is the door medallion.
Fellow Angeleno eh, cheers.
saw them recently too. Halloween show in London. Only other show I've seen recently was Slowdive.
Super loud in a tiny tiny venue. He does those scream vocals he used to do Fuck Buttons a lot which is cool. None of his work sounds like his debut album anymore, but it's still some unique shit.
Not sure if it's worth a few hours drive but it's fun, especially if you like his new album
He probably saw you do that and deleted the pic
Nah we did it after he left
>Slowdive (they're playing in my state tomorrow night. Should I go? How are they live?)
They're terrific, don't miss this
this year i saw:
the mountain goats
riot fest: nine inch nails, ministry, new order, streetlight manifesto
king gizz
seeing soon:
seeing death grips and ministry tomorrow, just bought my st vincent ticket for february
This year so far:
Panic! at the Disco
Sleigh Bells
Regina Spektor
Vince Staples
Rae Sremmurd
Andy Frasco and the UN
Mitski
Death Grips
Regina Spektor
Upcoming:
White reaper
the mountain goats
St. Vincent
Lorde
>Vince Staples
How were his new songs live?
I saw him when he was touring with Summertime 06 and the energy that show had was incredible. He isn't that naturally energetic as a performer and Big Fish Theory was kind of dull, so I could see his shows being a lot tamer now.
It was like a month before it dropped so he only did like 3 song from BFT but overall the show was pretty disappointing. Kilo Kish opened for him but didn't perform any of her stuff during Vince's set. Vince performed the whole set in one go but wasn't super hyped. Didn't even perform the full chorus on Hands up.
I've been real busy with school and work recently so I haven't been out much, but I'm seeing bell witch and primitive man on monday. Metal shows aren't necessarily my favorite but I couldn't pass up bell witch
When I saw him he explained that he has pretty bad asthma and he even had to take a break at one point. He also spent a lot of the set just kind of standing there, so it's pretty easy to imagine him getting lazier with his shows.
I'll assume that his shows were energetic just because it's hard not to be when you encore with Norf Norf into Senorita into Blue Suede. Based on your opinion I'll continue not being excited about his upcoming shows.
I saw him back in 2015 btw.
Seeing King Krool and Mac Demarco in the next few weeks.
i also saw him in a tiny venue and it ruled
Excellent music scene here. Most of these shows I had bought tickets for since like April. Cheers.
I'm gonna see the Beatles tomorrow, pretty damn excited actually
Going to see:
>The New Blockaders
>Mac DeMarco
>Roy Montgomery (stoked af because RMHQ was my favourite album from last year)
Highlights from the year so far:
>John Maus
>Merzbow + Pandi
>Dangers
>Sunn O)))
>Siege
>Pharmakon
>Sutcliffe Jugend
>Melt-Banana playing for a bunch of toddlers
Yup. Did a tour of the states in September with I think 10 or so dates mostly opening for Front 242 but I got lucky and caught them in Denver where they headlined.
Fuck lads, I live in Panama and I REALLY need some decent conecrts. I'm never gonna experience any of these artists live and just REEEEEEE
OP was it the toronto show? how was it?
>seen this year:

This Year I have seen Run the Jewels, Sleep, Alex G, Queens of the Stone Age, Wilco, John Prine, The Flaming Lips, Mac Demarco, and Danny Brown. Debating about seeing Yung Lean in chicago.
>Converge sold out literally as I was buying a ticket
Ouch
They're great live, git gud and catch them next round
>They're great live
you and I must have different definitions of "great"
