I still remember watching Blue Valentine when I was like 16 and being pretty floored by it. I haven't watched it since, but certain scenes from the movie still stick with me vividly.
Mostly just the part where they get to the weird sex hotel and Ryan Gosling goes "it's like we're inside a robot's vagina."

Not exactly "fickle romance", but every single one of these left me emotionally drained afterwards.
Inside Llewyn Davis is just a constant bleak ride with every shred of hope constantly being shut down
I've never found anything else that affected me like Synecdoche did.
What people don't realise is that SNY is crushing because of its concepts and not because of what happens. Idiots think of shit like as being miserable but the fact is that it's a series of things happening to someone that isn't you.
Really bleak movies make you realise that it affects you as well.
I think every person on this site could easily identify with Llewyn.
