Loved it, great twist on a heist genre movie, making it gritty and contemporary. Liked the camerawork, that 360' shot at the beginning setting up the first robbery was awesome. All the characters were great and the subversion of the "tough old sheriff takes on a dangerous case just before retirement" ended up being pretty poignant.

fpbp

eh

Kino
Also neither where ever gonna shoot but they where hoping the other would.

kino

it's pretty good movie but I can't call it kino.

Like, you can feel where shit is manipulated just to appeal to certain demographics.

It's a good film.

While I'm here, what the fuck did little brother do to convince the older one to literally die for him?

Older brother decided himself. What I got from it is that the older bro knew he was a criminal fuckup and was super guilty about missing his mom's death due to his criminal work. So he made amends the only way he knew how.

Almost kińó. One of the best movie in last few years.

Who else was literally stunned when Alberto died

That shocked the fuck out of me, The sheriff also continuing to talk before he noticed Alberto had a gunshot through his head

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. As someone who has been victim to bank's brutal scheming I felt great satisfaction at Alberto's monologue about banks taking away the country.
Also, good old fashioned film making is always welcome.

Garbage.

When will filmmakers finally understand that there is nothing charming about southern rural USA?

t. faggot

good movie. among the better Texas noir films. i think a better director/cinematographer duo would have made it a masterpiece, though. great screenplay.

As a European watching a film about Texas is like watching a film about Romania.

3rd world shithole with a retarded accent.

You really don't understand the south at all and seriously what part of this movie made it out to be "charming"?
The entire thing made Texas look barren, impoverished, and just basically not fun to live in at all.

Suck a chode bro.

sicario and no country for old men were better

i'd rather much more films be set in rural America than the constant LA, Chicago, or NY setting.

Better than capeshit and most other things produced these days but not great

Excellent. Top 5 of the year (so far) for me.

Great film that showed the struggles of growing up poor in west Texas.

The best part was that final standoff and when the minivan pulls up in the background

Still waiting on a decent rip

i felt a better director/cinematographer duo would have made those final scenes more memorable. they seemed by rote to me. nothing there that makes me want to rewatch it, unlike No Country for Old Men or Sicario, other Texan neo-noirs. however, it is refreshing to see a film of this caliber and quality not set in the typical NY/LA spots. This is what True Detective should have been.

All of the US looks like that to us rich Europeans.

>As a European

also, anyone interested in this film should also check out Cold in July. another Texan noir in similar vein. sort of. it's like a spiritual cousin to Hell or High Water.

It's great but I've met normies that liked it so Sup Forums taught me I have to hate it now.

anyone else think they met after that last standoff and fucked?

decent, i like the setting

did he imply hed kill himself at the end there when he said hed give him peace ?

tfw lord of the plains... that's me

Agreed. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I thought he was implying that if it came down to it he would kill him

>omg I was [l]iterally left speechless

go back to your capeshit/doctor who generals you reddit faggots

say that to my face fucker not online and see what happens

yeah maybe i wasnt sure, just something in the way he was kinda sad about the way he wasnt really part of his families life and the urgency with which he seemed to suggest to the ranger to come by his house implied it for me. but i could be wrong

>You had a reaction to a movie?
>OMG REDDIT FAGGOT EMOTIONS ARE FOR NORMIES REEEEEEE
>Takes autism medication

People aren't left stunned and shocked by a twist in a movie unless there is something very wrong with them.

>REDDIT FAGGOT EMOTIONS

Being an overly emotional faggot who feels the need to share their innermost feelings for attention is a sure sign of being a lolberal and a redditor, yes.

>muh pahtnuh

Fuck off, I'm European too and the movie was great. Especially in today's political climate.

Speak for yourself you nigger

I seriously can't tell if you're trolling.

Anyone who shares any emotion ever or has any feeling towards a movie is the problem?

I'm sorry I called you autistic. You're actually just a sociopath. Kill yourself before you harm someone.

The only part I wouldve changed would be getting rid of the shots of "banks r bad amirite" billboards/signs. Let the story say that, not some shitty signs.

> "banks r bad amirite"

im so sorry your teen mind can only think in memes anymore

>any emotion ever

No. But no one is left shocked or stunned by a movie. Ever. Unless they have severe mental and emotional problems, which most lolberals do.

How autistic you need to be to not understand people over exaggarating

>Cold in July

an incoherent mess, main character's motivation made no goddamn sense

Was a damn good movie.

the line from the old fellow at the diner about how this sort of stuff just isn't done these days was pure kino. The end shootout too was damn fantastic.

>the guys in the diner refusing to identify them

based

youtube.com/watch?v=djmNHow1od4

The older brother was just an unhinged jackass with a death wish. The younger brother probably didn't have to do much convincing.

This movie was good but every single character in this movie didn't need to have a forced line about being robbed by banks.

incoherent? it was straightforward enough for me. as for the protagonist's motivations: it's a Texan thing. remember how Llewlyn went back to help out the dying Mexican in the SUV? similar to that.

oops, forgot to mention the film i was referring to: No Country for Old Men.

>gritty

lol this autismo

t h i c c

Watching it tonight with moderate expectations.

She got me hard for real.

>tfw no thicc southern chick to sit on your face

Also >tfw live in Post
Was cool to see them film here in west texas and use real towns

>yfw the older brother died

How's life in Texas?

It was meh "No country for old man" rip-off. Still one of the best 2016 movies. Well, 2016 don't actually have a lot of good movies tho.

Seak help

Reading this thread, I see some people mention lines and scenes that I can't remember at all. It happens with every movie I see.
Is this normal? Do you forget a lot from movies you've recently seen? I find it hard quoting movies, and when I do no one remembers the line.

How is it a rip-off even remotely?
>2016 don't actually have a lot of good movies tho
yeah fuck off pleb

It depends on the movie but I'd say it's pretty normal and less autistic than remembering lines from all the movies

Takes more than one watch for me

Name 3 good movies of 2016, faggot.

Haven't had time to marathon it yet but supposedly kino

>Manchester by the Sea
>Nocturnal Animals
>Arrival
>The Handmaiden
>The Nice Guys
>Moonlight
>Kubo and the Two Strings

Should I go on?

how do you marathon a movie?

>marathon it
What?

>having THAT shit taste
>calling other people plebs
Pathetic.

What movies do you consider good from this year so far?

Kill thyself, The Nice Guys was kino concentrate. Too bad plebs like you made it bomb at the box office.

Well, The Accountant was close to be good.
Also, Hacksaw Ridge probably.
I've watched it in the cinema, calm down, kid. It was meh. Shane just can't make good movies nowdays.

Seen it twice. Pretty bad. The sort of circlejerk type of film about masculinity and man's work.

TNG was complete and utter shit and if someone that liked that piece of shit vouches for MbtS I believe Kenneth failed with the film.

also
>Arrival
Villeneuve is simpleton tier director and really bad

>it's bad, it's shit
i'm always amazed by the quality of discussion here

Why would I bother discussing films with someone that praises Arrival and the Nice Guys? One's made by a director that has insultingly simplistic moralistic dilemmas and themes in his films and the other one was just garbage.

Was sheriff lebowski secretly gay for his injun pahdna? I was seriously getting that vibe later in the film.

They probably fucked once or twice in the prairie.

keep the shitpost then user

>Still waiting on a decent rip

good rips are out now senpai

well killing all those people was kind of a dick move
still felt for him in the end

>lord of the planes, that's me

>lord of the planes
sweet space jesus!

well fuck

it helped me understand the trump appeal

we europeans more or less know the liberal northeast and west coasts

the modern west is ugly and depressing on the surface but beautiful, wild and free beneath

i.4cdn.org/wsg/1478855623999.webm

its about more than that
