Jazz general

What's the best jazz album you listened to in the last month?

...

...

...

This blew me away. Especially the drumming and piano. Thanks for whoever recced it last week.

from what I've heard, these 3 are specially great.

...

>listens to Tain once

I’m relatively new to the genre and making my way through the classics. I really enjoyed Monk’s Dream recently.

How much Mingus have you heard yet?

...

...

David Kikoski is a superhuman and Jeff Watts is a monster too.

That and Solo Monk, have heard a few renditions of Straight no Chaser.

Oh you said Mingus, I’ve heard black saint and the sinner lady, Mingus ah um, and the shoes of the fisherman’s wife

>not Blues and Roots
>not The Clown
>not Let My Children Hear My Music in full
>not Pithecanthropus Erectus
my child, you have much joy to uncover

Also Monk Paris 1969 is good

but why is the album art so bad?

...

Jazz album covers are often pretty terrible

pretty standard for criss cross

I actually listened to this last month, it's a fucking great records. Did you know her plays on along with Max Roach, Booker Little, COleman Hawkins, Mal Waldron, Art Davis, Montego Joe, Julian Priester, Walter Benton and Ray Whitley

Don't forget
>The Clown
>Mingus
>Charles Minus Presents Charles Mingus
>Pre-Bird
>Tijuana Moods
>Money Jungle
>Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus
>Changes One
>Changes Two
>Three of Four Shades of Blues
>Me Myself an Eye

Does it have much singing?

Ty for recs
Funny how egotistical he sounds when you list all those records. I think I remember hearing somewhere he was like that as well.

With the entireity of Reid Mile's covers you make this post unironically?
Shame on you user.

I'm not sure he's egotistical, but I know he had a bad temper. Though her very well could have been both. And not problem, I love Mingus.

I like him though, because of the 3 big ones (Mingus, Miles and Coltrane) he was the only one with a sense of humor in his music. Listen to Eat the Chicken off Oh Yeah or All The Things you Could be by now if Sigmund Freud's Wife was your Mother.
