What do you like about that Fishmans album? I have listened to a couple of times and I honestly don't understand why so many people love it.
Dorothy Carter - Waillee Waillee
Six Organs of Admittance - Dark Noontide
Natalie Rose Lebrecht - Warraw
Kahimi Karie - Trapéziste
Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump
My 2 favourites Fishmans releases are Long Season and Uchu Nippon Setagaya. I put this in the chart cuz it's like the definitive Fishmans release

What about those albums do you like? I've listened to Long Season and the only thing that stood out was that one melody in the beginning and end.

I'm also starting to get into shit like Perturbator's vocal stuff, some recs for similar stuff would be cool. For some reason I can't get into the instrumentals but love shit like Venger and Sentient
Todd Terje - It's Album Time
No hate, friend. Seeing Kid A, Songs for the Deaf, Daft Punk, Ween, Transatlanticism and Richard D. James all on the same chart tells me you're not sure what direction you want to go yet, and that's okay. The Muse on the chart tells me you're either new or you're fine with people making fun of you- either is fine. You just gotta find your genre. Like an album a lot? Dive into more like it!
The way I first got balls-deep in a genre was when I started performing jazz. If you play an instrument, try to get into a genre where that instrument is used a lot. Another good way is to find someone else's chart that has stuff you like on it, and listen to some of the things on their chart that you haven't seen before.
When in doubt, just get into jazz. It has a pretty broad appeal as long as you can get through the initial adjustment. There's a huge assortment of jazz music, since the genre has been around for such a long time. The depth of the theory behind it is such that you can learn a lot about how all popular music is made, not just jazz. If that sounds cool, give Blues and Roots by Charles Mingus a shot.
I could probably make more genre-focused charts, I just tend to jump genres quite often so it's pretty directionless. I'm cool with the Muse shit cause it's mostly true but I still enjoy what they brought with their early stuff.
Last time I posted I got recommended that Portishead album so I'm already starting to change it a bit.
I've always been interested by jazz but never really tried to get into it, I'll have to start. I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack, so I've had a bit of exposure.
Only about halfway through right now but I've liked everything so far.
This is really unfocused, what is it about your top albums that you like?
More recent recs preferred if possible please. Also thanks to the guy that recced me Fever Ray last topic.
Zomg wut iz this? muh terrible taste! Nah, you listen to whatever you enjoy, my man.

I've been pussyfooting around listening to F#A#. I was super bored by LYSF the three or so times I listened to it, except for the field recording about Kony Island. I'm told I might like F#A# better though. Would you recommend it?
I assume you're clicking the "download as .jpg button, and it's just stuck on "rendering"? Wish I could help you, man. The website works fine for me. Try a different browser?
Do you a color recognition software, or do you organize your chart by eye?
Your chart made me realize I forgot to include Meshuggah when I transitioned over to Topsters2. Thanks man.
Also, recommend me some good metal, Mr. Metal Man? I'm trying to put all the Nu-Metal of my middle school years behind me.
Kairon; IRSE! if you haven't heard it.
I'm impressed nobody's being mean to you. Wish I had something to recommend. Maybe King Crimson, if you haven't gotten to it yet?
Algernon Cadwallader
Empire! Empire!
i honestly think LYSF is one of their weakest albums. f#a# and slow riot for zero new kaneda are great places to begin.
I'll check it out then, thanks.
Oh, by the way, you should check out Nouns - Still Bummed. I think you'd be into it.

Everyone else is mostly nothing apart from a few Groupers.
...and?
LYSF bored the shit out of me too (I listened to it after F#A# tho), so I'd say that you could totally appreciate F#A# indeed, it's so different. LYSF is pure crescendo-core and to me the 4 songs sounds the same, there's nothing memorable in it to my ears, F#A# is more cinematic, moody, with very distinctives sequences and atmospheres.
That being said, you need to get into it and be in the right state of might (probably after a few listenings) because the 3 compositions are really varied and dense, but when you'll be able to identify and remember the movements whithin the 3 tracks it'll be so fucking rewarding. It literally feels like watching an art-house post-apocalyptic movie
Hope you'll like it as I do user
