Canada is about to make a big change in its history.
It has been announced that the Canadian parliament has reached a decision regarding a change with the national anthem. Titled "O Canada," the Canadian National Anthem will be amended in order to make it gender neutral. For example, the word "sons" has been removed. The changes are supported by the Liberal Government.
The New Democrat MP Christine Moore explained, "We are in 2016. The Canadian population will understand why we want to make the change. It is not a big change, and there will not be a big difference in the national anthem, but the difference is significant for women and trans people all across Canada."
We need to bring back the maple leaf forever as our anthem and the red ensign for our flag.
