I don't buy the meth part. I've smoked ice for more than 15 years and not once have I ever gotten the urge to mame myself in such an extreme way.
I'm thinking there were underlying mental issues that weren't addressed, and having her brother and father hospitalized at that time only exacerbated whatever disorders she might have had.
If meth did play a role then it must have had to be laced with something else.
