Music VS Lyrics

Are you more of a lyrics person or more of an instrumental person?

>not enjoying both

fpbp

other mediums are better for words, music is about the music. good lyrics are great and shit lyrics can ruin a song but come on

>tfw earlet and can only listen to instrumental music and not focus on lyrics

If I don't like the music, it doesn't matter if the lyrics are godtier, I won't care for the song.
But of course lyrics can improve certain songs a lot.

This because you can/should enjoy both.
The music is vastly more important though

good lyrics can improve not so good music, but shitty lyrics can ruin even the greatest instrumental.

Vocal performance > Lyrics
It's the reason why Black Skinhead isn't a shit song

My Grandpa was raised in a family of singers. he literally believes that music exists simply as background noise for singing. It's quite bizarre actually

Who gives a shit about lyrics in music? Sure, when the lyrics is extremely bad it can be a distraction but otherwise if I wanted "good lyrics" I'd read a poem instead.

>lyrics being extremely bad can be a distraction
I mean, I think of how on a lot of the CAN recordings you cant tell what the fuck theyre saying but it's still great. I guess that's different than if it were fake deep lyrics though.

Lyrics are pretty secondary

CAN has abrasive and minimalistic lyrics. Those are no means bad, in fact Damo's delivery is making them very powerful. When I say bad lyrics I'm thinking of something like "This Country" by Fever Ray. This is the first song that came to mind probably because I've just listened to it.

It depends on what the artist has to offer.

Considering most of the music I listen to is instrumental, in a different language, or with vocals that are deliberately hard to understand, I definitely fit more on the instrumental side.
Lyrics are important too though

music is more important but if either of them are shit the music sucks.

Vocal delivery desu

this

>can’t into reading comprehension
>missing the point of entire thread

the pic in the op implies extremes you fucking retard

I don't get what the image is trying to say. Appreciating lyrics is a pretty "right brain" thing too.

Objectively true. People who listen to music mainly for the lyrics are almost always insufferable pseudo-intellectuals

The very concept of lyrics is an affront to the idea of music being a universal language, and forces certain interpretations of the music over others just because of the words backing it.
