It's my first post in Sup Forums

dropped it 10 minutes in

WATCH STAND ALONE COMPLEX YOU DOLT

>movie called ghost in the shell
>there are no ghosts

>it's Sup Forums pretends to be contrarian episode

It was alright, stand alone complex is way better though

you're right
the two major edgelord anime movies, Akira and GITS are both pretty much shit

UUUU

>make an android
>make it autistic
why?

Akira, while visually stunning suffers from the fact it was made before Otomo had even finished the comic. This is why the plot is so shallow, imagine trying to fit an unfinished over 2000 page magnum opus into film form.

The ghosts are inside them.

It's definitely visually driven, much like Akira. That is why they'll never translate to live action well, the visuals will never be on par.

The ghosts are in shells dumdum

it's anime. what did you expect honestly?

If they GITS pulls it off they will try it with Akira. Hollywood Golden Age 3

>there's a skeleton inside you right now

Compared to what?
I'll wait.

>android

She's a cyborg

>hate anime
>friend finally convinces me to give it a shot, calls it "seminal"
>the entire thing is basically the pilot episode for a tv show
>ends with the main character turning into a little girl
Fuck anime

Cybernetic organism=machine-abled lifeform ie
Anyone who can't survive without machines
.
.
You're a cyborg, nerd

In heaven there is a six part animated series that follows the manga exactly.

your friend lied, sorry bro. Seriously, check out boku no pico. Now that's a semenal work of chinese cartoons.

2SPOOKYBOOGIE

>boku no pico

What the fuck is this

>turning into a little girl

who doesn't want to be the little girl?

Some faggy anime, I've never actually seen it. Just posting memes my boy.

watched it like 15 years ago, it was the shit back then.

has it aged gracefully?

Yes.

Can someone tell me what the meaning was? Or atleast what the point of the plot was? I'm so confused.

I never liked the character design but the backgrounds and soundtrack are great. Animation is decent for anime.

it's about lesbians conflicted by their closet status then further conflicted by the idea that lesbianess may not be pre-born but a social construct adopted via programming

this, i get at some point le 2 deep 4 you
but the ending is just so fucking dumb,

>"did you see that? she was totally Ghosting The Shell back there!

bravo Miyasaki

the movie is about a sexy crime-fighting cyborg. that's all you need to know unless you want to dive into the philisophical "humans are just cyborgs lol what does it to mean to be alive?" stuff

>tfw
>read gits
>watch the first movie
>watch the sequel
>watch sac
>watch arise
>each is different
>all are good
>not even sac is really "stand alone"

Stand Alone Complex blows, just sayin'

movie is GOAT though, better than Blade Runner

This is the most plebian opinion on Akira you can possibly have.

Genuinely one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Oshii is a total genius.

...

>Total genius
>shit ending
chose one user kun

the best part of the trailer was the depeche mode song

It has a great ending though.

Both of his Patlabor films are better and noone knows about them

Eh, I love the Patlabor movies, The Sky Crawlers, Jin-Roh and Avalon too, but GITS is his greatest work in my mind.

Its just Patlabor was so fucking real. Recently there was a coup in Turkey and i couldn't stop remembering Patlabor when helicopters where flying over the streets and shooting at the police.

Watched Angel's Egg a few nights ago, pure animated kino, Oshii needs to make another personal animated film

I remember watching that in an anime club like 12 years ago. The subs were all translated personally by one of the members so of course he had always seen everything before hand, he told us we were in for a wild ride. The entire room was dumbfounded and we ended up watching it all over again. To this day I recommend it to everyone.

It's fascinating, I downloaded some books on Oshii to read about the production
