Interesting scenario, but I think it lacks an understanding of the fundamental values, character and behavior patterns of American society.
The chimp out from sponsored activists on the left is likely, but the reaction to it will be a greater solidification of the right, with many centrists joining the right and even some wavering Dems/leftists pulling back from supporting their "comrades."
Some media will remain leftiecucked but they will to a significant extent be blocked from access to information and thereby power. The centrist and right wing media will flourish under the Trump administration. As Trump himself has centrist leanings, various conciliatory, uniting gestures from his administration regarding some token social issues will additionally undermine the left's attempts to attack him. Don't look for gay marriage to be overturned, though Roe v Wade probably will be, but the promotion of states' rights on these issues and the naturally resulting proliferation of permissive states where abortion is easily acquired, plus federal loosening of the reins on the marijuana issue so that it becomes fully legal in many states, will also take the wind out of the left's sails.
Many elements in the media--or should I say, many (((elements))), seeing which way the wind is blowing and where the profits lie, will jump on the Trump train and begin promoting more patriotic brainwashing in commercials, news and even movies and TV.
Slowly but surely, the juggernaut of cultural Marxism will be beaten back. School curriculums will change; new teachers will be brought in, traitors fired or pressured to leave. New generations will be told the truth and educated to be proud of this country and their status as citizens. The influence of globalists and activists for illegals and criminals will wane.
We might even see Mexico improve as the general clampdown on organized crime and corruption spreads into their country. Anything's possible if we work hard and believe.

I think you're right, if any kind of large-scale insurgency/civil war broke out, the US would never recover. There wouldn't be neat North-South lines, the thing would be fought absolutely everywhere. It is impossible for the US to maintain military installations in 170 countries or whatever and also occupy the entire United States. We couldn't do it in Iraq, we couldn't do it in Vietnam, we couldn't do it in Afghanistan, and these countries are all tiny compared to the US, both in terms of geography and population.
If this happened, it would mean the end of the country. It would mean the genocide of white people and their replacement by 3rd worlders and the ossification of class-divisions (permanent ruling class/permanent underclass); establishment of a conservative/fascist state; or, perhaps most likely (who the fuck knows), an uneasy coexistence between the two.

I personally don't think the powers that be are super concerned with total gun control at this point. If it was the be all end all they would ram it through and start dis arming. I'm thinking this is because of the drone technology that exists now. They can have a fat neck beard sit in a sea can in New York who may have never lifted a gun flying a drone blowing up snackbars in the Middle East. It could be just as easily implemented in us against the subversive "rebels" with no way to fight back. Small arms are basicly being negated by the drones and heavier equipment being sold to the police departments currently.
