Why does Sup Forums hate on Spotify when it could be potentially saving this board from its impending demise?
Why does Sup Forums hate on Spotify when it could be potentially saving this board from its impending demise?
bumpity bump
Spotify is too normie and mainstream for Sup Forums. A lot of NEET's lurk here and can't afford it as well. As such, it is with a chorus of REEEEEEEEEEEE's and accusations of Jewish shilling conspiracies when mentioned here.
Use Spotify if you like being spoon-fed and have no taste.
Anyone who is a Semitophobe is a halfwit. Ignore their opinions..
That literally makes no sense at all. This is exactly what I'm talking about.
You're listening to a playlist in order to find new music. Instead, you should find bands you like, do some research, and see what other bands you'd like. There's no sense in letting Spotify pick your music for you, plus you'll save money doing the research yourself.
...
What are you talking about? I make 95% of the playlists I'm listening to. Being able to share and export your own playlists is a huge boon. I've learned so much more about music in so much less time because I have such immediate access to tons of music. This argument does not hold water.
You know you can just use Spotify as a music listening tool? You can just look for an album you want to listen to and listen to it, you don't have to put on some shitty playlist premade or otherwise that normies love. Might as well use last.fm with it and find music through that
right my fellow Sup Forumsgapedes! i only use linkedin to find my obscure forgotten bands i have patrician taste
>gatekeeping how you find and enjoy music
back to rebbit
Whatever works for you. My favorite bands aren't on Spotify, so it's useless for me.
Sup Forums prides itself on inaccessibility.
>tfw hundreds of gigs of music albums loading into musicbee
>tfw don't even open it anymore, when I can just use spotify
>thinking about just deleting all my music to save space
I don't know what to do
holy fucking shit you listen to non-popular bands? im fucking dripping wet i am spreading my legs
>can't afford it as well
It's literally free. Just get an ad blocker for it and it becomes usable (desktop only afaik)
Sorry if I upset you. I'm just telling you why I don't use it. All music ever created is not on Spotify
They must be really cool then. Who are these bands?
Why can't I use an ad blocker on my mobile app?
What the fuck? Just use the browser version and you have
>no ads
>don't have to shuffle in order to listen to album
>can pick any song
>infinite playlists
>can transport playlists across accounts
Top fucking kek
Do some research ;)
jim o'rourke and smog aren't available.
What is the quality like?
I just use premium. It's $7.99/month. I used to spend much more than that on traditional music formats, so this is basically nothing.
>Pay a distributor money to listen to music
>Most of it goes straight into the pockets of Sony, UMG and WMG
>Virtually none of it goes to the artists you're listening to
Because Spotify is literally cancer.
You want me to do research.. on your favorite bands.. who are not on Spotify.. why don't you just tell me who your favorite band is ;)
Because artists and albums are removed all the time due to licensing constraints.
...
henry cow
>Box fan sound on medium power
This is the kind of music you listen to?
Does it eat into your data plan?
I don't leave my house very often, so I just use wifi
And you know this how? Could we see some evidence? What about independent bands? How is it compared to distribution and record/cd pressing fees back in the day? Do you actually buy music, or do you illegally download it so the artist doesn't see any profit at all? Do you really understand how Spotify works? My friends are in a decently popular band (cross country touring and festivals) and they love Spotify for the exposure it gets them. They get a nice fat check every month in the mail for doing basically nothing.
I'm eager to hear your counter-argument.
Spotify has almost no industrial. And very little post-industrial.
Enjoy your pleb tier dog limit normie
yes it does
For fucks sake, just Google "why Spotify is bad for artists".
lmao is spotify hiring ppl to shill on Sup Forums.
fuck off pajeet
Song limit
idk about most of your post but hopefully this addresses how much artists earn from spotify vs other methods
Yeah that my favorite song ever. White noise.
It depends. I have unlimited data so I'm not sure. It gives you the option to "make available offline" so you can put it on airplane mode and not have to use data.
>They get a nice fat check every month in the mail for doing basically nothing.
yeah sure
i hate fucking spotify. i can't add more albums because of muh epic collection.
so annynng
switched to apple music its way better
Not him, but it's pretty well known that Spotify pays shit.

And that's if you're playing popular genres. It's not uncommon to see something like an EBM artist get $2/year from Spotify depending on what they release.
How can that be inaccurate when I know for a fact that's not true? Every deal is negotiated differently. I can't believe someone tried generalizing all of those rates to try and prove a point, lol.
Apple music >>>>>>>>>>> spotify
AM has no political agenda either. Spotify removed Ducktails from streaming cause of allegations. AM still has it.
>when I know for a fact that's not true? Every deal is negotiated differently.
t.spotify worker
My friend gets ~$800/month, and that's after splitting it 4 ways. This isn't accurate.
proof?
Yeah, sure, tell that to all the other artists that pulled their music or don't even bother.
It's not that hard of a concept to understand..
Well, you're only paying 10.00$£ a month, and you don't get to keep the songs.
you have zero proof of what you know to be true. so its not a concept. its Anecdotal evidence which isn't shit
What do you expect? You're basically paying 10 a month for a radio service. You don't keep anything.
What kind of argument is that?
>Spotify pays shit
>no it doesn't
>well you obly spend 10 bucks on it
Except most bands ARE available on Spotify.. if it was that bad, artists wouldn't even fuck with it! If you really believe that the rates for Spotify streams are that bad, I have some swampland to sell you..
>money sign after amount
did you graduate preschool?
You are truly retarded if you think every artist has the exact same contract for every deal out there. My. Fucking. Sides. Please mark your posts so I know which ones to skip over.
I didn't say it doesn't pay shit, i said what do you expect for a chooseable radio station that's only worth 10?
Yeah, if you listen to pleb tier shit they are. Are you being paid to shill here?
Who cares? You know what I meant. Stick to the point.
>You are truly retarded if you think every artist has the exact same contract for every deal out there.
where's the proof of your friend having a different contract buddy?
Yes, which is why it's a retarded scam. Rich get richer, others get shit all and cannibalized CD sales.
look dude if they pay you to shill here. work on your grammar.
Halfwit semitophobe.
What's your friends band name? I want to see if they're on Spotify
No, I'm not actually. I think it's funny how you reached for the "shill" defense after I pointed out how inaccurate your info is.
>REEEEEEEEE WHERE ARE MY TENDIES
>why don't youbuse Spotify?
>because its crap and pays nothing to the artists
>well what do you expect for 10 bucks?!
What kind or argument is that, again?
Do people even buy CD's anymore? Asking for a friend.
Fuck off, semitophobic halfwit. Work on your paranoia before talking bolocks about nothing. Spotify is a radio service, pay and use or fuck off and die.
>minuscule song limit assuming you have 'premium'
>continually removes albums
>manually have to organize albums and playlists to genres, etc.
>song limit means no means you can't catalog or save albums for future reference
Do you not even listen to albums Norman?
right now you've provided zero proof of anything.
post your friends band
Don't use tt if you don't like it. It's a radio not a record.
It's a good argument, actually. I don't listen to the radio at all anymore. No commercials, no ads. I'm happy.
I think it's funny you can't tell difference between two different people responding to you, shill.
I can pull off anecdotal evidence too, doesn't mean shit.
i do
>why don't you use it?
>because its shit
>well then don't use it if you don't want to jeez!
Are you literally 12?
>Spotify is too normie
>Relying on preassembled playlists to give you your music taste
That (along with shit-hop and most of the good users leaving) killed this board.
How is it funny when it applies to both of you? You two are equally retarded, and you responded, so if that's your defense, please try again.
I think you've summed it up perfectly
still waiting on your friends band. tht makes all ths money
How is it shit, exactly? I missed your point completely if you were trying to make one.
Except you didn't point out shit. You said "muh nondescript imaginary friend" and that's it. Anecdotal evidence means nothing, retard. I can anecdotally point you to people who pulled their music from Spotify because they lost money and it still won't mean shit.
I don't understand the "prearranged playlist" argument and how it's bad. Also, you can create your own playlists. Soooooo.. what am I missing here.
I'm not surprised you missed the point, believe it or not.
that question dodging is out of this world
>He doesn't listen to albums
>not only there are people ITT who use Spotify, they're so retarded they don't realize they can get premium for free
That should tell you everything you need to know
I kinda did. My argument was "if Spotify was such shit when it came to paying their artists, then why are the majority of the bands out there on it?"
If it was unfair and not making the artist money, it stands to reason that they would remove their music, correct? Seems to be a pretty large amount of music on there to me.
Sorry, meant for
I listen to playlists to find out what I like, and then immediately listen to the full album. It's not that hard.
But I listen to albums too, user
>if artists didn't make any money out of file sharing, why aren't they fighting it?
>if artists didn't make any money from free bandcamp albums why do they make them?
>if artists didn't make any money out of sending their music to a radio station why are they doing that?
garbage taste no wonder
Yes, thank you for describing the difference between signed vs unsigned artists. Holy shit that's some amazing insight right there.
No, spotifynigs are still not welcome. Try again in like five more years.
pic related is why i will never EVER PAY FOR SPOTIFY AGAIN
You're a faggot lol. The adults are talking now, go eat your tendies and ranch.
