For real though, how do you choose a favourite? Is it all based on the current feeling? It would be very inconsistent since you're always going to feel more strongly about good albums you've found recently than about the ones you've been listening to for years even if they are just as good. You can also stop counting new albums and "let the dust settle" but that doesn't fix the main issue of comparing music that is so wildly different. Even if you can sort of compare albums within the same genre since they often attempt to evoke similar emotions and set up similar atmospheres, each genre is unique to the point where types of enjoyment extracted from them become incomparable with the others. Just the goal each of them tries to achieve differs so much that there's no real competition between them. If you listen closely most artists become incomparable as well. It's the same with emotions, I don't know which ones I like the most because they are all good and necessary at certain times.
It's almost as if all of these posts are made with another in mind, picking out a facade for others to see instead of you. Or maybe like a fortune telling thing where you pick out three random albums and see what happens.
Tell me where I'm wrong Sup Forums

I feel this way for the vast majority of albums.

But my most favorite album of all time is the only one I've never grown tired of, and no matter how many times I listen to it, it never gets old.

My next 3-7 favorite albums after that have a little bit of changeability, so I elected to go with the two that I find myself listening to most often/that have the most personal meaning for me.
