I guess I understand the hate for later genesis, I used to hate them too.. But props to phil for experimenting. how is it 'progresssive' to stick to the same old art rock thing and incorporate new technologies and sounds? Even Yes developed a more commercial sound in the 80s.

Phil Collins is actually one of the greatest live performers in the world. He was perceived as cocky, and he was a little overexposed at the time, but he had a fantastic voice, and was a true patrician. The sound of the drumming on his solo albums was inspired by PIL's Flowers of Romance album. And he played on Brian Eno albums, like Another Green World.
