I have a couple of his DVD tutorials... He knows his shit. George Benson (picking) technique, as well, is the stuff of articles and study. Maybe there's a musical divide, though. Personally, I go straight to the solos when it comes to his music.

For me the most important aspect of a guitar is how it feels to play. If it feels like shit, you will be less likely to pick it up.
Henry Reed
Yeah I was being hyperbolic, George is actually good.

i just realized i tense the whole fretting hand and use the thumb to help pressing the strings on both bar chords and single notes. i'm trying to learn not do that and do the job with just the fingers but its so hard and sometimes takes a while just to figure a single chord or note without tensing up
Hi maybe this thread can help me. I just started playing guitar a few months ago and now I want to buy a good amp. Is there any way to remove the dots under the strings? I know the dots are like training wheels and I'm afraid if I take my guitar into the store they'll know I just started playing and take advantage of me because I don't know that much yet. I see where professional guitarists don't have any dots under their strings because they already know where all the notes are by heart and I want to give the impression I do too so they don't rip me off when I go to the store. I looked on Google but I can't seem to find any info on dot removal. Is there a standard way to remove dots once you know all the notes by heart?

Mediocre violins run $30,000. A $5,000 is really not much at all
Chase Cook
1500$ is the maximum for any wooden instrument with magnetic pickups and metallic hardware
Nathaniel Foster
*taps with intense fret buzzing, sometimes forgetting to mute the other strings* H-heh, usually with some reverb and delay you can't hear those...
Austin Adams
Depends. If I had $5000 to blow and I found the cheapest 62 strat I've ever seen then yeah.

buying a better neck yourself

I'm 99% sure you're taking the piss, but I'll bite:
They aren't training wheels, even professionals with dotless fretboards have small dots on the edge of the neck, most pros have dots or other fret inlays and you can't remove them without leaving holes as they're not stickers but glued into the fretboard. Most people don't need them as they can play without looking at the fretboard and there's no stigma attached to having fret inlays. Quite the opposite. Nice inlays are kind of a status symbol.

no, I'm a reasonable individual, and don't buy into fraudulent pricings
Pretty sure that's an acoustic guitar (no pickup/no mic) through an eq pedal. EQ pedals are responsible for 99.5% of tone shaping.
Jose Nguyen
Not really. Muscle memory and your ears get you where you need to be.
Easton Collins
rate this riff i just came up with in one minute clyp.it/hpbm41hm
Austin Smith
And there's quite a bit of delay and a slight overdrive going on, not much more.

carvin guitar and amp, ez
Kayden Bailey
monster allergy was shit
John Lewis
No, can you fucking stop with that EQ spamming already. He didnt use EQ pedals for that crap. That is the sound of a guitar amp. An electric guitar also.
Jose Brooks
Nope, just EQ.
Adam Edwards
It's actually an electric banjo and EQ pedal
Ian Harris
What kind of EQ are you using that adds Reverb and Delay ?

Can rockists use economy picking?
Eli Lee
>Up-picking >Ever
Go back to the closet, jazz homo.
Liam Lewis
unironically yes, using economy picking really improved my playing and writing as it opens up a lot of voicing possibilities.

I don't look at fret markers anymore, only when I need to tell someone where I'm playing something at. Even then only sometimes. I can't even tell you if the last 3 guitars I've bought have side dots. I'm sure they do but I never conciously looked at them.
If you don't have notes across the fretboard, intervals or chord/scale shapes memorized you'll probably have a hard time. You'll probably have a hard time if you only play by tabs.

it brings me sadness just remembering gettin home from a tiring day of work she would hold me very tight and ikss me tenderly
wed sat a while and shed tell me all the news how she took the kids to school and she found them at the zoo throwing peanuts to the bears
oh this rememberance keeps reflecting on my mind when the days ran calm and fine and i had her by my side swearing love eternally
but hey how could i know? love was to go after all this time but hey, hw could i see she would leave me after all this time
Ayden Torres
not him but i do have some fretboard knowledge and havent used tabs in years but i do look up the fret markers all the time. am i inferior for that?
Samuel Parker
No. Whatever you gotta do to make it work. Even if you were, who cares?
