Here's mine >Amenra VI Honestly in my top 5 of the year just after listening to it 3 times. A solid 9/10.
>BMTH - Sempiternal Friend kept telling me this was really good. I mean it was alright not nearly as bad as some of there older stuff. 5/10 for me.
>Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper Another great album. Slightly repetitive but it was expected. 8/10.
>Cult Of Luna - Somewhere One of those albums that was on my to listen to list for months. Regretting not listening to it sooner desu, need to give it a few more listens but it was great.
>Violet Cold - Anomie Sounds pretty good at times. but man, it gets cheesy as fuck in parts. Bonus points for being the first band from Azerbaijan i've ever listened to. 6/10.
I listened to Monastic Living, Health and Efficiency, and Nothing Important because I quite like all of then, and I wanted something almost droning and guitar focused. I Can Hear The Heart Beating as One is just one of my favorite albums, I don't listen to it too often anymore though. TVU Is another favorite, I've listened to it a million times but it doesn't get old.
Recently just been listening to what I know, I should listen to more new stuff though.
Noah Jackson
I haven't been listening to full albums recently so some of these go back as far as like Thursday
>New Age of Earth First track was pretty jammin'. The longer ambient tracks were nice, but damn I love the first track. >Amanita I think their best album is Lapsed desu because it's just more concise and I can internalize every track easier, versus this one which just has too many. Limerick, Tantric Porno, and RM are all 10/10 though >Just for a Day Slowly becoming my favorite Slowdive album. Sure Souvlaki has better pop songs but damn it just can't compare to the beauty of Catch the Breeze, Waves, and Erik's Song. Especially Waves. Fuck that song is amazing. >Antisocialites In Undertow is my favorite song from this year. Rest of the album doesn't really match up (I expected this) but Lollipop and Saved By A Waif are almost there. >Teignmouth I didn't know what to expect with this one. It's a darkwave album but the last track is like they heard Kraftwerk and were like "wait a minute kitschy electronic is a good goth aesthetic right" and rolled with it (I liked it). Overall I think it was mostly decent to good but overstayed its welcome.
Dominic Martin
Drop Nineteens - Delaware The Avett Brothers - Country Was... Dengue Fever - Cannibal Courtship Keaton Henson - Birthdays The Shilohs - So Wild
these are all pretty good imo
Ryan Rivera
>The Fall of Ideals - All That Remains >The Walking Wounded - Bayside >Killing Time - Bayside >Daisy - Brand New >No World for Tomorrow - Coheed and Cambria (just finished as I typed this up)
Joshua Richardson
>sparklehorse-It's a wonderful life Pretty good.Nor my favourite sparklehorse album but still pretty solid 8/10 >eels-electro shock blues 7/10 >Sonic Youth - In The Fishtank 9 This album is pretty weird.Idk what to make of it.Just give this one a listen >low+dirty three-In the fishtank 7 It's good.8/10 >Karate-In the fishtank 12 The second half is really good.8/10
Jonathan Lee
>Owen-Owen Sleepy-core, very relaxing. >Shearwater- Winged Life Just wonderful vocals, Folky and serene. >Red House Painters- Down Colorful Hill Self-explanatory, one of the best debuts i've ever heard, very crushing. >The God Machine- One Last Laugh in a Place of Dying Heavy and Intense, if they didn't disband with NIN and Manson becoming popular soon after. Could have been huge. >Gowns- Red State Heartbreaking, noisy. Would be a trip while high.
Isaiah Sanchez
oh fuck i did it wrong cuz i dunno what i'm doing
Kayden Hall
Madonna - Madonna Madonna - Madonna Madonna - Madonna Madonna - Madonna Madonna - Madonna

>Boris- Flood Great drone record, first listen and really impressed. Lot of post-rock elements
>Wormrot- Abuse Big fan of their other stuff, this might be their best due to it being so raw and unrelenting.
>Swans- Children of God One of my favourite swans records. Industrial goth, need I say more.
>GZA- Liquid Swords one of if not the best hip hop albums ever made. production is so cold, suits winter well.
>Wu-Tang- 36 Chambers Don't need to say anything about this record, its amazing.
Robert Turner
electro shock blues is a 10/10
Leo Martinez

>le fish guy Still can't into it. I despice the singing voice. >Jazz by Sun Ra Vol. 1 Good stuff, a bit too tame >Ornette Coleman - This Is Our Music Based Coleman great as always >The Black Angels - Directions to See a Ghost Pretty average stoner/psych, maybe I'm just jaded from all the other bands I've heard to that sound exactly the same >Talking Heads - Fear of Music Second least favorite TH album so far
Charles Ortiz
Only new listening was Disco Inferno and I disliked it (didn't like the weirdness and too inconsistent), the others are favs
Levi Reed
>days before rodeo great album as always, easy listen. >sun and violence very fascinating and a blend of a ton of different folk sounds, good. >the dusk in us surprisingly good, intense listen. >the redeemer a favorite of mine, just love this album. >when the kite string pops this album is just so fucking energetic and good I love it so much.
Charles Moore
new converge is so fucking good.
Carter Hill
fuck yes, I wasn't expecting it to be so good hence the surprising, sounded a bit bad when I reread it.
Cooper Wright
What was your favourite track? mines murk & marrow
David Russell
under duress is pretty great, it's slow and heavy and honestly something I enjoyed in a Converge record.
Daniel Edwards
Blondie - Pollinator It's okay. "Already Naked" is actually great, other songs range from meh to good 6/10 Omar Souleyman - To Syria with LOve I don't get it. Listened a few times now and don't really like it. It's different, but is it good? Nah. 5/10 Dan Terminus - Automated Refrains just meh 5/10 EIMIC - Acquired Taste Barely anyone knows about this record but it's actually 40 minutes and extremely tight - there is not a single bad track on it 8/10 Nightstop - Streetwalker Another hit-or-miss synthwave album. This one is more hits for me. 7/10

>Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle Loved this album when i first heard it and revisted after her new album, sprained ankle is still just as emotionally wrenching and is much more engaging lyrically than TOTL imo 8/10 >Taylor Duepree - Faint Pretty nice ambient record, admittedly I only had it on as background music while i was doing something else but my first impression is very positive and i'll definitely be revisiting it with more attention 7/10 >Taylor Swift - Reputation Really not as bad as I expected based on the lead singles, some of the tracks are really great and i think it's reasonably solid in her discog 6/10 >Rapsody - Laila's Wisdom Really like this, one of my top hip hop albums of the year i think, she definitely realised the potential she showed on her last album both lyrically and flow wise some really solid features, however the fact that almost every song has a beat switch feels a bit redundant by the end 7.5/10 >Austra - Future Politics Solid synthpop record, nothing particularly groundbreaking but an enjoyable listen nonetheless with some nice grooves on it 6/10

>Sunn O))) - Black One Liked it more than I have done on previous listens, but not really my favourite Sunn O))) album 7.5/10 >Sunn O))) & Boris - Altar This is one of those albums I like more every time I listen to it. 8.5/10 >Master's Hammer - Ritual. Some meh aspects but pretty legit bm 7/10 >Sabbat - Envenom Some meh aspects but pretty legit thrash/bm >Pinkshinyultrablast - Grandfeathered Not really my type of shoegaze, but it wasn't THAT bad 6/10

>1. Blackhandpath - Egregore Pretty good industrial hip-hop, looking forward to more releases by this duo
>2. Steely Dan - Aja Great jazz-rock album, stunningly produced as well
>3. Smog - The Doctor Came at Dawn It was good enough to keep my attention thru the whole album, but I think I'll need to re-listen to this some time to appreciate it more
>4. John Maus - Songs Pretty good, but I like We Must Become Pitiless Censors of Ourselves more. This album really felt like more of a collection of songs rather than a cohesive album, but the songs themselves were top tier
>5. Duster - Stratosphere Amazing, one of my new top 10 albums
Ethan Green
1. R.E.M. - Up >One of my favourite R.E.M. releases, and an all around pretty great album.
2. White Reaper - The World's Best American Band >AOTY 2017 for me personally, although it is not as good as their first record. All around great album, and one of my top listened to albums of the year.
3. Sloan - Navy Blues >Pretty great album by Canadian rock legends Sloan. Great instruments and chorus'.
4. R.E.M. - AFtP 25th Anniversary >Not one of my favourite REM albums, however, demos and live tracks added for release were interesting.
5. Gord Downie - Secret Path >Solo album by Canadian legend Gord Downie, who passed away recently. Told the true story of a boy who froze to death trying to walk from a residential school to his home on a Native Reserve 600km away. Great production, and album.

Go down through the thread and see what people have said about albums that peak your interest. That's what I'm going to do when I get the spare time

the trick to enjoying tmr is to just listen to it on repeat in the background while doing whatever for a few hours. it will all become clear after that.

>Wool See It's okay. Dude sounds more like Sadistik than he's ever been.
>ECID Easily one of the most experimental hip hop records I've heard this year. Love his wordplay "What doesn't kill you...just earned a lawsuit".
>WESTSIDEDOOM Gunn stays overhyped. He's bearable here since it's 2 track but anymore I would've panned this.
>Windows 3.1 Meh enough vaporwave. Not really much here. Bit funky at parts.
>WHEELER Excellent minimalist memphis-like hip hop instrumentals. Too short but brings a really cool atmosphere. It's like Lo-fi hip hop + memphis rap.
Thoughts on the MFDOOM album? Easily one of my favorites, if not my favorite record by the guy.
What did you think of the Aesop Rock record? Personally for me it is a 10.

bro you seem to know a lot about hip hop, can you give me some recs? ive listened to all the 'classics' and the stuff that gets circlejerked here all the time but im struggling to branch out and find more good stuff
Parker Cook
I'd love to talk about these albums but I can't, since I'm just trying to get into metal after visiting a metal bar just 3 days ago. I quite like it, but I'm not sure how to talk about metal yet, what I like or dislike about it. I just know that I really like it so far.
Blue Sky Black Death Presents: The Holocaust > Holocaust raps about everything from conspiracies to the twilight zone. I've seen the instrumentals from this compared to Neoclassical Darkwave. youtube.com/watch?v=K6GvefXrH3I
Lol, you sound like my brother. He just got into heavy metal after listening to primarily hip hop and he loves it but can't really describe it yet and what subgenres he enjoys or doesn't.
