>?mu/ posts an album thinking its their best
>its actually their second-fifth best

everytime

Carlos?

People don't like it when you do this.

...

maybe they should post their actual best then

I have like 3 albums by women that i can sit through, this

And these two come to mind

Suggestions for music by women that fits my taste?

What are the best releases from those artists?

>my autism is everyone else's fault
never change

Well done posting the correct Breeders album.

some ppl just post their favorites
and ur favorites aren't any more special than theirs

...

Rid of Me
Debut/Post/Homogenic
Juju/Kaleidoscope
Little Earthquakes/Under the Pink
Literally any other Cat Power album, The Greatest is one of her worst. Best is WWTCT
The Dreaming
Desertshore/The Marble Index

yeah sure, its just that a lot of the time their favorites seem to be what the general Sup Forums consensus thinks its their best

Going by your Grouper rec, I would listen to Julianna Barwick - The Magic Place, or early Julia Holter

...

mu thinks the dreaming is kates best and it's my favorite too but i still think HoL is superior
also if u think the dreaming is kates best then why not boys for pele for tori. same fan favorite, critics hated it etc

agree with RoM & desertshore

...

Nice. Well played. A band that deserves more attention around here.

THE DREAMING > HOUNDS OF LOVE

ACCEPT IT, LEARN IT, LIVE IT, LOVE IT

Overrated. When the Pawn.. is a million times better.

both masterpieces, one easily accessible and the other not. it's pretty simple

The Dreaming is very special because its very different from anything else Kate has done, and each track manages to be unique in its own way and not be too self-indulgent. Boys for Pele attempts this, but with the addition of not being as experimental (at least not as much as people make it out to be), it ends up having too many tracks hat dont sound particularly special, making it an album that Tori should've stripped down, by the last five tracks you already feel that she has tried everything and that she ran out of ideas. It also doesnt have the technical and even emotional peaks of her first two albums.

I used to think this too, but the instrumentation and vocal delivery in The Idler Wheel... sold it for me

Grimes > anything ITT
Fuck off

I'm probably the only person on this board that can't stand this album at all. AMA.

can i ask why, and also do you like PJ Harvey?

...

I love her less "subtle" records, to me she's in her element over big electric guitars that don't obscure her physical force as a singer. Why don't I like this album in particular though?
I guess I have trouble buying into the thematic thrust of it. How are you gonna try to talk about the psychic scars of post-Great War England by singing in an American accent? I care a lot about what this album's about and I listened to it constantly when it came out to try to get it to click. Nothing about it sounds dystopian, it's dreamy and complacent and the music doesn't correlate with the lyrical content. It's got good tunes, Written on the Forehead I actually could say I like, but after White Chalk I thought this would be more serious. It should have been more about death than White Chalk and it isn't. The lyrics are also really vague and sometimes, like with the stuff about selling the gold reserves, even conservative. /rant

so wich album you like of her and other female artist you enjoy?

...

I really like everything from Dry to Is This Desire. The first single from her new album sounded like a nice return to form too.
Kate Bush is unimpeachable to me, so is Siouxsie. I like Nico but I haven't listened to her in a while, and lately I've been stuck on Ladies of the Canyon by Joni Mitchell which is really great. The Slits are also wonderful of course.

favorite rock album by a female?

Probably this.

any modern female singer you like?

I like this but I haven't heard her newest album.

been listening to this, it's nice

Listen to The Brothel, her new album was a bit disappointing

The Circle Game is my favorite Joni Mitchell song, such a great piece lyrically

Miles of Aisles version is amazing!

some of the reasons you dont like LES are why i do! i can see why some people mightnot like it tho. the music not matching the lyrics on some of the tracks is really unsettling to me in a good way
