Because competition is cutthroat and demands constant learning and innovation. If you fall behind you eventually get culled.

Also, you need to constantly learn and strive to be better when you want to be the best. There is never a time to rest on your laurels.

It's not like politics or an old-boys club like many people assume it to be. You don't get to fall back on a network to prop you up when you fuck up in a business. You lose, you lose money, nobody wants anything to do with you.

Also, he is a very good marketer, and knows how to reach an audience. Constantly being up to date on communication is a must.
