Basically missing brackets. Its either 7 or 9 based on if you work it out as 6:2x3=9 or 6:2+4 =7

1 can't velive I did a captica for this

saged

a window

Are you fucking retarded?

Fucking dumbass

Aside from 7 and 9 the answer 1 is definitely wrong because 2(1+2) equals 2+4.
In this proces the () are lost. Meaning 6 devide by two comes before 2+4

It's 9

9

Sir, you are an idiot.
6:2(1+2)
6:(2+4)
6:6
=1

I might be. Im only a bachelor's in math so theres alot of people better at it than me. I do expect you to prove the difference tho

9 niggers
remember bodmas

When wanting to sound like a posh cunt at least say you, sir.
Sounds more cunty this way and gives off the aroma of arrogance.

2(1+2)=2(3) which is the same as 2x3 which equals 6 you complete fuckwit. 6/6=1. The answer is 1

Nice bait

6 ÷ 2(1+2)
6 ÷ 2 × 3
3 × 3
9

All other answers indicate poor math skills, lack of intelligence, or a third-world education.

6/2(1+2)
First parenthesis
6/2*3
Then Division and Multiplication, from left to right
3*3
=9

See

This is correct.

9. Plug it into a calculator

The problem is stuip becuase no one uses that symbol passed 5th grade.

Attached: D3449F06-6099-4165-87BD-963D6D1005E0.jpg (640x359, 22K)

Division is left-assoziative.
Since 6/2*(1+2) is the same as 6/2/1/3 and because of left-assoziativity it's (6/2)/1/3 the correct answer is 9.
Since you can look up the correct answer all over the internet, pls stop trolling and stop wasting space for serious threads (porn). Thx.

pemdas says parenthesis first
even I know it's one

No but I use / very regularly in my job and if I wanted to write what you have there it would be 6 / (2(1+2)).

Yes, but multiplication and division have the same level of priority so in that case you resolve left to right, meaning it's 9.

The problem never says it's equal to zero

Rewrite it to make more sense. Since multiplication and division have the same precedence...

6 / 2 * (1 + 2)
= 6 / 2 * 3
= 3 * 3
= 9

>Bodmas
>Federal retard holiday

Exactly. Theres a shortage of brackets thus the most logical answer is nine. But getting 7 is an understandable mistake seeing as the formula is jambled

1

So your going all out huh.

9.

I fucking love threads like this.
It makes me so happy looking at all the American education getting put to work.
You guys are a source of comedy for the rest of the planet... thankyou, you stupid, stupid idiots.

>implying 2*3 isnt one factor
Brainlet.
Try it with X and Y and a and d in different places. Like use a=2
6/2(1+a)
=
(6) over (2+2a)
Plug back in in a=2
=
6 over 6
=1
All the propertys of algebra break down if you don’t interpret 2(1+2) as one factor and 6 as another factor. Learn the difference between terms and factors becuase you mouth off. And things like rewriting with coefficients or reciepicals

We arnt at your job

Except in the way he shows his equation, (2+1) is an operation between bracket and if you use basic high school mathematics, you'll know that the order is
-Powers (22 for example)
-Parenthesis( (8+18))
-Division and multiplication from left to right
-addition and substraction from left to right
It's Sup Forums, don't expect geniuses, expect fucking retards who don't even know what the fuck is a metaphor

I literally just watched that video 5 minutes ago.
It's 9.

It's 3,5. Bye noobs.

find x:

6 / 2(x + 2) = 1

now do the same for:

6 / 2(x + 2) = 9

there you go.

This AGAIN??
YOU DUMBFUCKS ITS OVER 9000!
/THREAD

Umm, shouldn't it be
6 / 2(1+2)
6 / 2(3)
3(3)
= 9?

As far as I'm concerned, 2(1+2) is exactly like 2*(1+2)
Meaning that it goes 6 / 2 * (1+2)
So 6 is divided by 2 first, then multiplied by 3

read this

33

I dont think you know what the divide sign means. Divide sign means take everything on one side and devide it by EVERYTHING on the other side, divide sign != / So by definition the problem is always (a) divide by (b). In this case 6 divided by (2(1+2). Where a equals 6 and b equals 2(1+2). The extra brackets are inplict when you use the divide symbol. You might have an augment if this used / instead of the divide sign. But then it would have bad sintax. This comes into play when you need to work equations (this is an expression) and do something like divide both sides by Y without rewriting every term with y under it

I know, I was just replying to the other guy.

Parameters YEAH! LETS GO!
a/b(c + d)
= a / (bc+bd)
= 6 / 6
= 1

This.
Only retards would read it as
a/b+(c+d) (two factors added)
or a/b*(c+d). (One factor)
Btw I know some computer programming stuff will read one or the other of these, but that is not what we use to determine if it is right. Besides even if you did, I could just point to a different computer program which would do the other way.

6/2(1+2)= ?
1/2(1+2)=1/6
1/2(3)=1/6
1/6=1/6
Clearly it's 1/6

Ohhh, here we go

High School teacher here, I do trigonometry/geometry

6÷2(1+2)=

Simplify, to remove parentheses, its already at the end of the equation and remove the = sign

6÷2x3

Add the numbers

6÷2x3

Divide the numbers

3x3

Solve

9

First reply is correct

The main problem your facing is not removing the ( ) as they are not needed, they should be substituted for multiplication.

Will answer questions, its what I do

1

It's fucking gemdas nigga. Not the distributive property

Wrong. Moron.
Stop teaching. This is why our kids do so bad in college math
A÷b*c=A÷c*b
Otherwise linear algebra and trig equations proofs break down. There is no left to right order In equations. 10=2*5 10=5*2. Does 10=20÷2 and 10=2÷20? 2sin(2@)=2sin2sin@cos@
This should point you your error.

Dads drue

Disprove this:

6÷2(1+2)

Add the numbers

6÷2x3

Divide the numbers

3x3

Write the repeated multiplication in exponential form

3^2

Evaluate the power

9

BRACKETS!

since there is only multiplication and division left that can be done from left to right so...

6/2(1+2)=
6/2(3)=
3(3)=
9

I love how worked up people get over this. My favorite are the low self esteem people who just cant help but be like "LOOOOOL FUCKING IDIOT!!!1111111111".

Attached: 1496034311660.jpg (181x179, 6K)

6÷2*3 != 3*3. 2*3 is. Factor
a÷b
a=6 b = (2*3)
So the problem is
6÷(2*3)
.
Otherwise you get into all sorts of problems like
x-(50*100) and then saying (50*100) cant be written with a coefficient, which ofcourse if can, 1.
You wont be able to rewrite expressions to use known forulmas. Ksin(&-$)=asin& + bcos&. For a problem like sin&-cops&=-root(7). Becuase you are saying a =!a which doesn’t let you do things like let a= 2b so 2b=a or abcd = fghj with a=2f into 2fbcd=fghj

Retards,

There is nothing saying that 6/2 should go first.

6/2(1+2) =
6/2(3)

There are no brackets around 6/2 which means that the normal rules takes priority, aka multiplication first.

6/2(3) =
6/6 = 1

9. It's like people don't fucking know what the order of operations is.

BEDMAS Search it up
Brackets
Exponents
DIVISION
multiplication
Addition
subtraction

so you're wrong, there is a rule. Also if there is only multiplication and division left in the equation it can be done from left to right. Same goes for addition and subtraction.

Multiplication is on the same playing field as division, so it will go from left to right.

6÷2(1+2)

Solve parenthesis

6÷2(3)

Rewrite as

6÷2x3

Then its now left to right, multiplication does not go before division.

Answer is 9

Well shit you're right. My bad. Thanks

Learn something every day :D

6/2(1+2)
6/(2+4)
6/6

What if you had 6÷2a?
You are saying
6÷2*a=3*a
But 2 here should be read as a coefficient. Always. That is how you rewrite things if you need to factor out something to cancel. 10=2*5
So
2x÷10=3
Becomes
2x÷2(2+3)=
x÷(2+3)
x=3
Yourway would say x can equal something else. And also you would never be able to solve for x by canceling in your way.
