ELLEN ALLIEN NOST
not techno
not techno
LOL
leave my detroit techno alone
That track is making me feel funny
i can't tell if I want to make techno or if I want to rap. I like the hypnotic beats of both, but I feel like there is no market for techno. However I am introverted and have no place to record, I could more easily work on edm. Thoughts?
Nothing quite as goofy as good ole minimal. Talking that 9am Berlin circa 2008 shit.

And who can forget those days when Marco Carola was tearing floors apart? Ibiza had little clue wtf he was playing for them, but damn they moved...

I miss the days when Ostgut Ton was on that serious tip. Berghain's not quite the same anymore.

This shit really rocked some floors when it came out.

There is a market for techno, but you don't do well in that market if you looking for a 'market'.
It's the kinda shit you gotta know and feel. Plus it's nearly 40 years deep, so you gotta be on your shit. But it's the world of small press vinyl releases and spinning for $10k at Berghain 6am-noon shit. And not as fickle as radio filler edm world.
Techno and 'edm' are much, much different things (really 'edm' not really a thing, mostly just pop-candy fluff).
If ya wanna play techno you gotta get deep. It's the underground market. But a very big one. You gotta listen hard to some shit and dj.
if it's rap or techno...well those are two far different worlds. Rap has an 'easier market'. techno you gotta be extra clever and know what you're doing with your sounds and tech.
try this on for size

Underground techno scene is better than soundcloud rapping
Thanks for that track. This video is what I'm looking for. youtube.com
I love this set and the small club vibe so much. How do I get into that? I was a shitty candy pop edm dj in college but I got bored a quit. Can I get some gear, practice mixing (and beatmactching!!!!) and go to clubs?
How do I get into the underground techno scene?
nice tracks, thanks for sharing. informative for somebody who wasn't plugged in to any of the stuff you're talking about
You have options but it depends on where you start from. 1 or 2.
1. You live in a place or near a place that has good clubs, a scene of underground dance music, and/or house-improptu party circuit.
2. You do not live near a place with good dance music.
In both 1 and 2 you will want to get gear, practice mixing, and listen, listen, listen. Know your shit and techno history. Otherwise
If 1. then go to clubs, events, parties with legit techno. Find some afterhours warehous shit, find out best legit clubs/venues (talking no vip, no bottle service), etc. Feel the vibe and network. If you are good at playing then your music can speak for you.
If 2. you have little recourse except making music but often one or two big tracks that get picked up and tear up dance floors is enough to get you in the game.
A mix of djing and live preformance is best imo. Hardware gear is always a plus and usually better but I really like Maschine on cpu for making and playing because it gives very easy transition for studio to live playing.
You gonna have to know about djing. Djing is all about feeling. I recommend checking out Sven Vath (among many others). He's probably the best example of a dj who plays what the fuck he wants (9 times out of 10 legit house and techno) while being one of the biggest djs in the world for like 30 years. People will dance harder and longer to good techno and house, but you gotta know how to bring it. It's amazing how deep 'knob twisting' can get.
im not much into techno, but I can give you some house music if you'd like.
dig on this
sure
One of the best boiler rooms for just pure techno

some of my personal faves. let me know if you enjoy this type of warmer, analog house and I'll give you some more recs. I didn't really enjoy electronic music until I stumbled upon some of these artists that totally changed my view on electronic music
and you can't say techno without the latin days lol.

This is probably the best tool ever made. Everyone likes this, even the girls who hate techno. Throw a hard bass drum and hihat on top...fire...
