Did Glenn Gould make any Bach recordings? All I've listened from him is P E T Z O L D . . .

could anybody rec me any classic that sounds like the orchestral sampled or playing here

youtube.com/watch?v=POW-u-RGspY

How does that sound like Rach 2 in any manner whatsoever?

youtube.com/watch?v=ljLi9A0H8H4&t=27s

I don't know. I just wanted to post Rach 2.

I bet Bach plagarized this

from petzold like always

How do I introduce a girl to classical

Bach to grave you rat.

Use popular mediums that make classical out to be more than this "boring and senile" medium. As an example watch the movie Amadeus with her. If you're into anime watch Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso and/or Nodame Cantabile with her. You could also try to make certain subconcious positive connection between romantic moments and classical in general (Ae. kiss her always when a certain piece starts to play?). Just try to make the experience of listening to classical interesting and try to make the experience positive. Good luck.

>a girl
>not girlfriend
Oops, my bad...

kys
this, thank you, great answer

is it pathetic confessions time?
hibike euphonium actually reignited my passion for playing music

So I want to listen to all of Bach's cantatas. Is there a preferred listening order? Should I go by BWV number? Or there's a chronological listing that would be better?

oh man thx brother. what sort of classical is this called?

If you want, you can go by cantata cycles

Can anyone tell me what this piece really is? It doesn't match up with the one named in the description.

user, you're my fucking hero, a gentleman and a scholar, all of my internets are belong to you, here's your cookie, you know the drill.
Thanks a lot.

music from the Romantic period (19th century)
listen to Brahm's other symphonies, Schubert's 9th, Saint-Saen's 3rd, Liszt's Les preludes for a good start on orchestral music from that period

thx again.

Schumann

youtube.com/watch?v=iSiwMR3dBUY

Me too, user. That and Kids on the Slope. The good thing is that I found my old copy of Czerny's Gradus ad Parnassum and that one's useful as hell for starting to play piano again.

no, sorry, he didn't make any. He's mostly known for his recordings of Hans Zimmer transcriptions

Leonard Bernstein during a Wagner rehearsal:
Wagner must have been a great fucker, as he wrote so fucking good music

Leonard Bernstain*

The famous minuet in G that you're probably tired of hearing was not written by Bach but actually by some rando by the name of Petzold. Some theorize that he was Bach's ghost writer and is still alive even to this day...

>t. petzold

seriously, /classical/ has the worst memes

couldn't imagine enjoying classical music without having studied music since the age of 5 t bh lads

Scarlatti

youtube.com/watch?v=Nwz1pw2QMA0

don't listen to . Watch caligula or maybe star wars. The easiest stuff to get into and hold onto is Romantic era stuff. Maybe go see Swan Lake, or put on the music from Peer Gynt. But I would stick to the classics from that period, or Symphony 7 from Beethoven. Maybe Piano Sonata 14, or you could play the Suite Bergamasque by Debussy or Afternoon of the Faun

Is there any non-mega of these dumps? You can't download with Palemoon or a non-chrome borwser

use jdownloader

What a shit fucking instructions.

it's much more enjoyable to watch people play Bach than it is to listen.

its even more fun to actually play

Wagner during a Bernstein rehearsal:
Juden raus! Juden raus! Juden raus!

Its kinda fun if your in the mood to analyze it

Caligula doesn't even have any classical music besides Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights and showing it to a woman you just met is a really bad idea.

What does /classical/ think of Samuel Andreyev's videos?

I liked his Webern videos.

False, they say show a woman a horror film to get her andreline running. Imagine a history buff seeing that film, it'll get her all hot and heavy. Also I thought there was another piece beside the Sergi piece, its been a while since ive seen the film.

Oh also you can show her Kubrick. He always had good classical pieces in his films.

>The Stranger being compared to GoT.

This upsets me greatly.

He sure does like his Webern

I interviewed him for my radio show last week, would anyone be interested in listening to it?

Sure

Link us.

I posted here a few times asking if anyone had questions but it was mostly stupid shit and very little interest so I didn't post it here when I did it

Thanks.

they're both absolute bollocks

Anton Webern is sonic nyquil

I'll take the swan lake and the ones from peer gynt

(Not true by the way)

You will tire yourself. Take it easy, 2-3 each day max

do you know any short piece with voice that a girl could like?
Something like this

youtube.com/watch?v=SM7TnuYU4dc

If I was a "normie" I would personally find the choir singing kinda off-putting to be honest. And I would say that Bach is not really all that entry level to impress a regular listener, but I won't deny that there may be exceptions to this. What I would personally do is watch the entertaining mediums that advocate classical music and then later put some background music with cantabile quality like Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and maybe even some Mozart. You could also try to play pleasing and memoriable melodies.

Does anyone else know this feel?

Being a professional musician is autism dear user.

To me Romantic pieces sound like a big fucking flourish or ornament.

You're fine user. You're missing out on some good music but it would be a lot worse and you would be a brainlet if it was the other way around.

I know, I've listened to pieces such as Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto and found that I didn't really enjoy them compared to Bach's piano concertos for example.

Maybe I need to keep trying until I can enjoy it

Which recording do you have?

Kissin

Rachmaninov's piano concertos and Bach's are pretty much like day and night to me so it's understandable. I personally love both and I can't really tell anything else but keep trying, it's worth it,

Try Ashkenazy's recording.

Try Lugansky with Oramo
