>Opinon on rap music
It can be fun for goofy party stuff, but I hate hiphop that takes itself really seriously and won't shut up about how its "the art of the streets"
>Top 3 Albums
Dopesmoker - Sleep
We're Only In It For The Money - Frank Zappa
Broncho - Double Vanity
>opinion
while not my preferred or fav genre by any means, rap has its fair share of classics and I end up listening to it quite a bit because my friends like it.
>Favs
New Order - Power Corruption and Lies
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
King Crimson - Red
Not as avid of a fan as I used to be but I still dig some older stuff. I'm pretty out of the loop as to what's popular now.
Television - Marquee Moon
Ween - The Pod
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
I'm a big fan of Kendrick Lamar
A lot of hip hop is great, but the subject matter of a lot of rap is very limited to "woke" shit and turn up shit. When rappers make music outside of those it's pretty great.
The Clash - Sandinista!
Weezer - Weezer (the blue one)
Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
>it can be decent but a lot of it lazy and shit
>just got back from the discomfort -- we're alright
>spiderland
>q:are we not men? a:we are devo!
mediocre
Trash, but hilarious at times
I like some of it, a very small amount though. I hate shit with shallow flexing lyrics and it has to have really good instrumentals to compliment the rapping.
>Massive Attack - Mezzanine
>David Bowie - Low
>Swans - either To Be Kind or Soundtracks For The Blind
I don't care about genres, if it's good I'll listen
top 3:
>Pink Moon
>Liszt's 12 transcendental etudes played by Jenő Jandó
>New Ancient Strings
I really, really hope you mean "most influential and important albums in (rap) history" not general history
Rap music was a huge part of my childhood. I can still remember the first time I listened to 36 Chambers. My students know how much I love the classics, and I try to listen to the stuff they recommend, but only a few artists really speak to me any more.
>Can - Tago Mago
>Velvet Underground & Nico
>Miles - Agharta
