Recommend me some Baroque Pop. Or some Chamber Pop. (Is there even a difference?)

people will give me shit but I like Father John Misty
I do too. Not sure why he's so unpopular here.
look up "the left banke"
Contrarianism
Nice pick. Hardly ever see them brought up on mu.
Just listen to pet sounds on repeat. poor Brian wilson. Don't do drugs kids
Begin and Present Tense are great albums
Of Montreal-The Gay Parade
This is the GOAT Left Banke song
never hear chamber pop brought up...i also have an lp by "glass prism"
i think they qualify?
I would say early Belle and Sebastian is chamber pop.
If you want to get a bit more obscure
Between the Buttons by the Rolling Stones.
Quite a bit of the Kinks falls under baroque pop

Agree, although I would characterise it as being in the specialised sub-genre "school assembly core".
This was my favorite genre for a while although I think I mistake it with Psychedelic pop.
I recommend to listen to the entirety of:
The Beach Boys - Summer Days (And Summer Nights) stereo remixed
The Rolling Stones - Between The Buttons + Their Satanic Majesties Request + We Love You/Dandelion single
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed
Love - Da Capo
Also, Tangerine Dream by Kaleidoscope, Bee Gee's 1st, Procol Harum, Something Else by The Kinks, Pet Sounds
90s to present:
The Heavy Blinkers
The Polyphonic Spree
The Explorer's Club
Grizzly Bear
The High Llamas
Adventures in Stereo (lo-fi 4-track edition)
I think the Divine Comedy is often chamber pop, even some Matt Berry.
Borders with "power pop", "pop psychaedlia", "folk psych" and "ironic lounge" are of course imprecise. Jellyfish, Roger Manning Jnr and The Wondermints have also done stuff in this area.
Lucio Battisti – Anima latina
Beach Boys – Pet Sounds
John Cale – Paris 1919
Giles, Giles and Fripp – The Cheerful Insanity of
Lee Hazlewood – Cowboy in Sweden
The Moody Blues – Days of Future Passed
Talk Talk – The Colour of Spring
The Zombies – Odessey and Oracle
This is just a personal opinion but I think of Baroque Pop as more orchestral leaning whereas in Chamber Pop they are more likely to get the harpsichord and flute out.
"Chamber music" implies small forces in classical music.
I think as much. She's Leaving Home and Lady Jane is probably Chamber Pop, while California Girls, Hello Goodbye and She's a Rainbow is Baroque Pop.
I think the term baroque pop usually refers to classic era chamber pop (60-69) but it's pretty much the same thing
The Divine Comedy anyone?
Vampire Weekend, maybe. They get shat on pretty often but they got some ok tunes
It's raining today....
Great suggestions ITT, some other Baroque Pop I rarely see brought up:
>Millennium - Begin
Someone posted it above, GOAT baroque record
>Margot Guryan - Take A Picture
Voice you can fall in love with a beautiful melodies
>The Smoke - S/T
Possible discount Beach Boys but still really good
>Four Season - Genuine Imitation Life
Actual discount Beatles complete with 'ironic' Hey Jude rip off
>Van Dyke Parks - Song Cycle
Very well-known but if you haven't heard it just go do it now
>High Llamas - Gideon Gaye
Very influenced by Parks, some modern Baroque which doesn't actually suck
And I'm just about to forget the train window girl...
New Gold Hits is also a pretty good Four Seasons album that broadly falls under baroque pop

I think there are some great chamber-y baroque-y melodies and sounds on this record too
