were they right?
Were they right?
NOPE
Hell no
More or less. The people that look to this band for abstract, glitchy music make me cringe because even the guy that played guitar on Jenny Death does that shit better. Their "pop" albums are much more emotionally honest.
It's pretty much Reign in Blood of electronic/hip hop music, so obviously no
Should be a point and a half lower tbqh
They claimed Death Grips had done nothing new with NOTM which is absolute bullshit.
the review spends more time discussing their antics than the music. Hopefully NOTM receives the critical reception it so deserves in the future when people go back and reevaluate their discography
I remember reading it and thinking "what the fuck is this guy talking about?"
It doesn't matter if you hate them or not, this album is drastically different than everything they've done prior, and after learning it was all performed on v drums makes it even more enjoyable.
No it deserves lower.
this
notm is pretty much completely unique
nope lol
Truly don't understand the logic of that. I don't see where he was possibly coming from. If there's one album in their entire discography that stands out as being nothing like the others, it'd be NOTM. I mean they do share some things in common, but NOTM takes that production so much farther. The song writing feels so much more fleshed out than Government Plates, while still being far out there experimental.
Jenny Death is the better half
Deserves a 10
...
Bjork vocal samples and occasional weak bars from Ride don't justify what sounds like watered down drill n bass in the end. Nowhere near as unique as you think it is, and it's this muh uniqueness aspect of DG fans that arguably makes them the most cringeworthy.
your favorite band is shit
>weak bars
>bars
Let me stop you there
>weak
Could've stopped there too
so fucking wrong
>black man doesn't scream and decides to do something different
>white people think it's against his musical style.
>watered down drill n bass
fucking what, mate? I don't hear it even a little bit. I could see this argument used for Interview 2016 and Steroids, but fucking notm? Really, where are you even pulling that from?
>after learning it was all performed on v drums
Oh yeah, I still remember when that happened. TPTB leaking early and people taking photos of their vinyl sleeves and there it was. It of course made sense, because you can clearly tell that a lot of the album is being played on v-drums when you first hear it, but it was a huge shock that basically the entire production was basically programming drums and then making songs out of that. It made me realize just how deeply textured the entire project is.
>occasional weak bars from Ride
You mean Ride's densest and most mystical lyrical contribution, layered throughout all tracks bar one? don't post about death grips again until you have relistened to notm in its entirety without interruption
Pitchfork needs to be deleted. NOTM is Death Grips all at their best (same with steroids)
mc ride is pseudo intellectual garbage.
Yeah, no.
is there a better lyric than
>All my palm lines running stretching 'cross my palm like blind cross etching
since when does he wear a suit, let alone a shirt
>IT USES BIG WORDS SO IT'S FOR PSEUDS
>IT USES BIG WORDS SO IT'S INTELLECTUAL
Nobody implied that
a halloween gag they pulled.
Nobody implied this
...

>Hit play highway hocus ain't much more highway
>Can ride me
>My dead mother in my dream...
>remember when December blew her ashes 'cross my jeans
>OFF! THESE! JEANS!!
>Somethings only I have seen

romulus and remus
They should make an album only recording in suits
Kanye already did that brah
JD is their worst album
NOTM is definitely their best album so they were wrong as fuck
Pitchfork's been seeing a pull-away and shit like this review was the beginning of it.
there's a reason why the only people that like this band are Sup Forums and reddit users
Up My Sleeves and Say Hey Kid are incredible the rest is meh to me
They are incredibly popular
Niggas on the Moon was supposed to be the future of hip hop. seriously it's on next level shit and nobody even cares about it.
thanks for the wallpaper
