I literally cannot get into rap, its inherently cringey to me. Admittedly, I'm much more of classic rock fan myself (Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, ect.). Despite this, I have been known to tap my feet to a few rap songs (Yonkers by Tyler the Creator, My Life by Little Wayne and Redbone by Childish Gambino). Do you guys have any advice for me to overcome my fear of the genre?
DISCLAIMER: I fully recognize that me being a white male may interfere with my ability to empathize with rap lyrics. I mean c'mon, what does a young, privileged, white male know about gang banging?
>Redbone by Childish Gambino I don't think that Redbone or anything from "Awaken My Love" counts as rap user

i'll never stand why americans care so much about "intelligence" when majority of them avoid STEM majors like the plague and still elect people like donald trump and clinton as president candidates. to think intelligence all boils down to what kind of music you listen to is another idiotic statement. if not every parent would just force their kid to like jazz/classical and boom instant genius right?

I started listening to classical two years ago. At this point all popular music (ie, non-classical/folk) seems boring to me. I don't listen to my old favourites anymore (and that was "patrician" shit, prog rock, krautrock, ambient, Autechre...). I tried to listen to Loveless recently for the first time in my life and it was absolute substanceless garbage.
tripfags are getting more obnoxious and retarded each day.

Alright OP, time to break out the hip-hop starter list that even white people can listen to:
>DJ Shadow - Endtroducing >Wu-Tang Clan: Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) >Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique >Kanye West - Late Registration >GZA - Liquid Swords >A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Go through them, and I personally promise that you'll find a hip-hop style that you enjoy.
