re: New Mexico (don't know much about Arizona other than that it's a tourist trap/retirement home):

- high desert
- extremely poor in the vast majority of the state
- lots of alcoholism, huge drunk driving problem (speed limit signs are riddled with bullet holes in northern NM)
- many native reservations
- unique mix of American, native, and hispanic culture
- huge drug trafficking problem in some areas
- great hiking and good skiing in some parts
- fantastic fattening food culture
- huge expanses of desolate land full of burnt out old buildings
- best small city in the country (Santa Fe)
- unique but boring ass region full of wealthy scientists and engineers (Los Alamos, White Rock)
- no middle class

It's a great place.

He's probably thinking of Roswell

stolen mexican land

Read that New Mexico has a place where there's almost no light pollution at all. Really wished to go there before I die. I want to see the Milky way as muh ancestors saw it.

I'm sure this is true of most of the western US outside of the cities. If you look at a satellite image of Murrica at night you'll see what I mean.

I really hope you don't mean Phoenix, because that's a shithole as well.

Every city in NM is a shithole so you have to be talking about Arizona.

Not him but I kinda like Tucson for some reason. Flagstaff looks nice too.

It's where Breaking Bad takes place.

Nah, we're talking like no-light-pollution-at all.

I can see the milky way if I drive outside the city, but we don't have the space to put a zone where there is not a single artificial source of light for kilometres
