What would it take for you to stop watching the NBA?

What would it take for you to stop watching the NBA?

It has the least amount of parity in any sport (outside of a few European soccer leagues). People predicted this Finals matchup and champion four months before the season started, the third consecutive version of it (and would be a threepeat champion if not for an epic choke) and it will likely be this for at least the next few years.

A referee literally fixed a playoff series for gambling purposes and went to prison for it, what should be the ultimate bar-none biggest controversy a professional sports league has ever faced, yet people continue to watch.

Fans say freely and openly that referees turn a blind eye to certain fouls and infractions, and openly debate referee conspiracies about calling games certain ways to get the league the result they want for money/TV ratings, yet people continue to watch. Case in point: these 2017 Finals with Games 3 and 4.

There are open conspiracy theories about the draft lottery being either rigged, or a flat out unfair way to conduct a draft (versus a standard league’s draft), yet people continue to watch.

Individual players in the sport are more important and are promoted more than the teams they play for.

The regular season is so long, arduous, and frankly useless (due to over half the league making the playoffs and the best teams always making them and winning in them) that coaches just flat-out rest players even during big matchups, matchups fans wait to see. When your regular season is viewed as worthless, that has to be bad, right?

core of the sport’s intrigue is around media manufactured storylines, "hot takes", and drama. NBA journalists write tabloid-tier articles meant to divide locker rooms or creative "rivalries" between players, and then force them upon players at media sessions

None of these things have led people to stop watching. Is there anything the league could do (or not do) that would legit get you to stop watching the sport?

>Brazilians being able to read without a head

I want to preface this saying I'm not a Warriors fan, Cavaliers fan or a Raptors fan bitter at the Cavaliers. I enjoy basketball as a person.

I turned the game off after the first quarter of game 4 and didn't even bother tuning into game 5. I have no interest in the next season. The lack of parity is one thing which can make it uninteresting but this kind of officiating is a disgrace. I'm a fan of the sport and want to see it played to it's fullest, not hampered by nonsense.

Frankly it's made me disillusioned with the NHL as well

dude, im a longtime nba fan who switched over to the nhl for the playoffs

imagine my discouragement at an awesome palyoffs to see the championship possibly stolen by the predators by a referees dumb call

You forgot ads on the jerseys

As a new hockey fan, you should realize that was a good call. The rule is that the whistle is blow. When ref can't see it. That sort of thing happens fairly regularly, it's part of the game.

But even without that whistle, it wasn't a goal because of goaltender interference.

There are all kinds of dumb or questionable calls but it's only recently I've really thought about it in relation as to why I'm watching

I don't want to spend hours of my life every week watching games, investing myself in a professional sport altered or potentially decided because of a referee making an awful call out of incompetence, bias or even corruption. I'm not interested in sports as an excuse to just sit around and drink beer, I loved playing sports and I enjoy watching them. Seeing them influenced in these ways leaves me irritated and disappointed.

That fake Lebron graffiti stunt and it's subsequent media coverage (including in-game) did it for me.

Cancelled the NBA package the next day.

Taking up hockey next year.

>What would it take for you to stop watching the NBA?
Nigga I stopped watching years ago and I'm a laker fan

It isn't fun anymore plain and simple

They turned it to black European soccer

Why.... Hockey is an unrewarding trash of a sport where you are unrewarded for progress and control of the match. Then a lot of the play is on the fly strats with minimal thought into it.

The only sport I have interest in watching still is NFL.

You stopped watching it when the Lakers went to shit? How convenient

The draft 'lottery' is ridiculous if youthink about it.

It's almost like it exists so it can be rigged (it does)

Well I'm not going to watch fucking baseball, that's for sure.

NFL isn't around Feb - June. Watched NHL playoffs this year and loved it.

NBA is now Soros-ball. Dead to me.

Basketball takes the most skill faggot. Nobody can dispute this. When it comes to technical control of the ball coupled with footwork, puts basketball ahead of other sports.

You have a point about parity though, but that doesn't take away skill needed to play.

Please. Shaq was highly skilled?

Baseball and hockey take more skill.

what about hockey? There's way more skill involved in skating than running, you have guys trying to hit you the whole time, and you have a goalie trying to stop you from scoring (goaltending is literally illegal in basketball).

I'd also say baseball has a higher skill requirement than basketball too

Nobody is going to stop watching parity is a meme

True.

The lottery alone should be enough to raise suspicion in anyone paying attention.

I already did.

Parity was part of it, the NBA's anti-American garbage was a part too.

DROPPED

Hitting major league pitching is the hardest thing to do in sports.

I was done somewhere around their transgender bathroom bullshit. Now it's gone full on absurd.

Sucks because I was kind of getting into an exciting young Wizards team. Fuck it, guess I'll watch the Caps instead.

this is true

Eliminate playoffs. Stabilish a round robin system (every team playing each other home and away).

Victory - 3 points
Victory in ET - 2 points
Loss in ET - 1 point
Loss - 0 points

Gave up that trash after the 2002 Kings-Lakers refball and haven't looked back

Do you think this was legit?

I'm skeptical.

The NBA is obvs in cahoots w/ the corrupt media.

If they wanted this story killed, it would have been.

I suspect, it was a set up so they could show that they "actively fight corruption".

Their endgame was obviously legalized gambling, which Adam Silver has straight up said was one of his goals.

If they got gambling legalized.... then the real corruption could begin..

is what legit? the donaghy thing, or the 2017 finals rigging stuff?

Not that user, but he's obviously referring to the Donaghy 'scandal'.

>taking up a sport
Literally laughing out loud at this

What's funny about that? It's like taking up a tv show.

Shaq was highly skilled. Why the question mark

You probably unironically believe this

No he wasn't. He was bigger than everyone else.

A million amateurs can shoot better than Shaq. Literally. Guys on highschool JV squads can.

Fuck off.

Dude fuck off with your nonsense.

Yes, was referring to Donaghy. I don't buy it at all. Especially seeing the collusion between the NBA and the media the last year or so. Doesn't add up.

Donaghy was a small-time fall guy, used so they could try and get away with much bigger shit.

>collusion between the NBA and the media the last year or so

what do you guys mean by this?

'progressive' media, 'progressive' league

You really need this explained to you?

nigger shit for niggers

Fuck off with your race baiting shill

so just political stuff? yeah that stuff annoys me too with the commissioner and players getting politics into sports but i thought there was some legit conspiracy, like the media was propagating stories about the nba or soemthing

They are. What do you think that moronic Lebron's gate fake stunt was about?

What do you think that Charles Oakley at MSG story was?

And they're definitely propagating anti-NFL stories as well.

I would sooner watch every baseball game than every basketball game

>Individual players in the sport are more important and are promoted more than the teams they play for.

this is true. They use the Hollywood celeb model.

Not surprising since the same people own both.

I stopped during the Jordan days when people stopped giving a shit about traveling just to let niggers dunk more
youtube.com/watch?v=rjM4z-M7gcA

There is more to basketball than shooting threes. Youd know this if youd watched the sport

Fuck off

Shaq couldn't even make free throws.

Have big men able to actually shoot. It's literally the first thing you learn, why can't they do it? Durant is as tall as some centers and drains 3's consistently. At least be good at free throws. If a 10 year old can do it so should Deandre

>15x all star
>career double double
Fuck off underage scum

Not the argument.

Everyone is aware that he was bigger and stronger than everyone else.

Skilled....not so much.

Because most big men (not all) are in the league because they are bigger and stronger than everyone else.

Which was a huuuuuuuuuuge advantage, especially in the pre space and pace memechuck era.

They weren't super disciplined super skilled athletes.

Confession Sup Forums I've lost interest in the NBA and during the NFL offseason I have taken an interest into gookclick.

skill
skil/
noun
the ability to do something well; expertise.

I stop watching when my team (Atlanta) gets put out of the playoffs.

I enjoy this sport significantly less than I do any others. Mostly because it's been the same teams and players (LeBron) winning every year. I get he's a great player but the super team thing he started just makes it less fun to watch.

Yes, Shaq was an expert at being bigger than everyone else.

Fuck off.

Another cringeworthy post. Heres a (You)

I haven't watched it since like 5 years ago outside the finals

>The only sport I have interest in watching still is NFL.

The NFL is the worst it's ever been. Defense has been systematically destroyed, the rules get worse every year, there's more penalties, more commercials, more challenges, and less gameplay.

i feel like every sport is dying man. i mean at least with the NFL, you only have 16 games so every game is very important

how the fuck are we supposed to watch an 82 game regular season NBA when the regular season is useless, or ONE HUNDRED SIXTY TWO baseball games

this

Never watched another game.

I was a die hard nba fan who tried to watch as many games as possible (given my location, that was hard). Then every year my enthusiasm waned. The past year I've only watched the finals. This season I haven't watched a single game. The league is truly shit.

Last time I watched were the matches of pic related.

...

That was perplexing. There were no pictures or closed-circuit cameras on the day it was done. Truly 100% False flag.

I stopped awhile ago. I'm not black or poor so that might have something to do with it.

What does this proove? There are kids on every playground in America who can do that. Shaq wasn't exceptionally skilled, he was exceptionally big.

True of 90% of the league desu

...

>What would it take for you to stop watching the NBA?

I did long ago. Clear outcomes are influenced intentionally by officials. So that, I guess.

When they finally stop giving a shit about small market teams all together. I can't fault the success of the Warriors cause most of that is due to the draft. Only thing they did was get Durant so they could make sure that no one else can beat them. Both Curry and Durant will resign with one of them taking less money. Klay and Green are still under contract for another 3-4 years. So kudos to them for making all the right moves.

Lebron(I'm a fan of his) is gonna start crying that he needs more around him which might bring in another big name super star.

I can see these young super stars that are on small market teams that are actually showing some good potential leave so they can form another group of super stars just to compete which you can't really blame them I guess.

I can see the argument that people make saying that it brings in more money, but the complete lack of competitiveness in the sport is just starting to get sad. Sure you have teams that have young talented stars right now, but once those contracts are up do you honestly expect them to stay with a team that has a smaller brand name?

As far as watching goes. I knew the outcome of the finals before the season even started and was only willing to watch this years finals if it would have made it to game 7. And I'm willing to bet that it will probably be the same outcome in the 2017, 2018 and possibly 2019 season.

>Biggest scandal?

What are the black sox?

I wouldn't mind watching lopsided games if I felt the games were being officiated fairly, just because I like basketball. But what the NBA has now is both garbage games and garbage officiating, and there's nothing worth watching about that at all.

I already stopped watching halfway through last season. I still like to shitpost about it though.

baseball literally takes less skill than track

>Team I like loses
>I-it's rigged. I'm going to that semen slurping ice skating sport!

You can't be this stupid. It's impossible.

Literally no one itt this thread has said anything remotely like that
here come the shills

this

they were a little too eager to get that Donaghy story out there

My team is the greatest franchise in the history of the sport. I'll always follow and support them but I don't have cable TV so I don't really follow them. But today's game holds very little interest to me. The 3-point shot was meant to help open up the game in the paint, not eliminate it.

I was a huge lebron fan until the warriors swept him this year. (Let's be honest, game 4 doesn't count, that was a sweep boys)

I was really excited that I got to see potentially the greatest player of all time in his prime. Now that he's no longer in his prime, and certainly removed from all talks of being the greatest ever, I simply have no reason to watch any more.

What makes this even worse is that the golden state warriors might actually be the greatest team ever constructed and they're going to waltz their way undefeated to a championship each year.... yeah no thanks. It's fun to watch great players like westbrook, kobe, and lebron will themselves to victory, but what's not fun is watching a bunch of millenialls team up and crush everyone easily. This semen slurping sport isn't for me I guess.

Not him, but I agree about the 3-point shot. Things will get boring quick if every team resorts to ballchuck.

>Things will get boring quick if every team resorts to ballchuck.
they already have.

hitting major league pitching is the hardest thing to do in sports. fuck outta here.

Isn't it crazy how the NBA is probably the most controversial, complained about league in America?

Stay salty, bronsexuals.

For good reason.

It's shoved down our throats among other things.

Lebron retiring.

nfl is shoved way more down our throats though

its still way more watched and not nearly as cirticized and the NBA is

Not even close

PUHleeze

ESPN attacks NFL 24/7

fuck off

So this is /nba/ right?

I have a question for you niggas. How come people say Kobe ran Shaq out of town when it seems like Shaq is just a big baby bitch who can't take any banter? (As seen with based Chuck and all his stupid ejections over his career).

Everyone hated Kobe. Dude was/is a phoney.

Nigga fuck off.

Start another 40 NBA threads and samefag some conversation.

The fact that the NBA shills on here is justanother reason not to watch.

I've been a Warriors fan for 19 years but fuck the NBA now.

I don't even hate jews in a Sup Forumstard way but damn, they really never know when to stop pushing the envelope. When Adam Silver took over the NBA it was cool to see him embrace social media and use it for things like extending streaming outreach, uploading highlights immediately, etc. But now he literally uses it for fucking hiring shills and pushing narratives not even closely related to basketball. He contracts out some of the pajeet tech firms here in Silicon Valley to push stuff on social media, forums, etc. Even pushing a lot of anti-Trump and certain porn stuff that I'd rather not go into. Silver's people threatened Steph Curry's wife to become a public slut.... I know there's not much proof I can give but wait a few months, there are a lot of future leaks coming.

Yup. You can tell. They do it on this very forum and it's very obvious.

It's not a meme.....it's (((NBA))) for real.

Nice post. Pretty much spot on.

but

>Silver's people threatened Steph Curry's wife to become a public slut....

what do you mean by this? This is new to me.

I believe it. Curious about the porn, and Curry's wife stuff. The anti-Trump stuff is obvious. What do you mean by leaks?

im technically jewish myself (although barely at all, dont practice any holidays or belive in god, hate israel, but my mom is jewish so tehnically i am) and even i hate silver as a jew

1/2 Jew here (not really though, dad's senpai is Jewish)

Hate Silver.

Runs league in typical tacky overbearing Jewish way.

But lets be real, Silver does what he's told.

The fucking talent is garbage desu. Forget all the conspiracies. The players coming in aren't that good. Sixes get 50 straight top picks, can't do shit. Lakers get 50 straight top picks still suck. Twwolves suck. List goes on and on. All these one and done faggots from college are decent not great. when there is no game changing talent coming in, teams can't get more competitive.
Honestly they should downsize at this point. 32 teams is too many. 82 games is too many. 4 rounds of playoffs is too many.

This post intrigues me. Is dirt coming out on the NBA?

>and certain porn stuff that I'd rather not go into.
BLACKED shit.

C'mon those dots aren't too hard to connect.

Yeah, duh.

NBA = Israel
