The average human being eats 3-5lbs of food per day, Americans average nearly 5 1/2 lbs per day. I punched up the calories and the "all the food you're legally allowed to have" bag provides 855 calories/day
For comparison let's look at what prisoners ate on a typical day at Auschwitz:

I also tend to believe in some cases, a number of prisoners were forced by other prisoners to give up portions of their rations to other jews higher in their structural ranks.
