Autechre is more focused on conducting experiments and composing theories in sound than aphex. Most of aphex's songs are, at the end of the day, songs (though he does have his fair share of pure experiment tracks). Also, I guess it's worth noting that most of Aphex's tracks are in his own little scales and tunings.
