You can say all you want about it's quality, but hardly any songs on the album are actually ambient and it doesn't belong anywhere near an "ambient essentials" list

It's ambient adjacent, sure, but it's much more idm (another broad term, but still)
Admittedly SAW2 has much more ambient than SAW, but a song like Blur has no business being called ambient imo

The thing is I agree with putting these four and Lichen on any ambient essentials list
But that's 5 songs on an album that has more than 20
I'm also biased because I listened to SAW 85-92 when I was first getting into music, didn't like it, and assumed that all ambient was like that. I think giving someone an Aphex album and saying it's a good starting point for ambient is unfair and just doesn't make sense
