This is actually an a lose-lose for Hulk, because if Kubica is at his prior level, he should easily outpace Hulk. If that's the case, then Hulk's the guy beaten by a driver with 1.5 arms.
But if Hulk beats Kubica, it would just be put down to Kubica being slower because of the injury and unfamiliarity with modern F1 cars/tyres, so Hulk gets no improvement to his reputation.
Speaking of familiarity with tyres, the comments by Mark Hughes on his article are bretty clear cut:

I read somewhere yesterday that the reason Heidfeld beat him in 2007 was because Kubica took some time to adapt to the Bridgestones, and that the Michelins suited his driving style better. Once he'd adapted (2008) he was easily able to beat Heidfeld
Also consider he is 8 years younger.

the problem with Heidfeld and Kubica as teammates was that they had completely different driving styles, when one was doing well witht he car the other one was struggling and the team tried to keep it even by focusing on the driver that was doing worse
(Heidfeld had a softer driving style, Kubica a more aggressive one)
