finally this thread comes around

Song kills me

Same, solid album from start to finish but that song and the opening are so good.

Bandwagonesque tbqh, I still have The Concept as a 7" single somewhere.

Pic related is good if you like that Big Star influenced sound. All killer, no filler I reckon.

NO ONE knows this band

They're my dad's friends band and I'm not joking when I say that this album is incredible. They had a band in the 90s called The Greenberry Woods that got big, on Conan, on Rolling Stone magazine cover, got dropped by label, broke up. Formed new band. This is their best album. Really creative, varied, great singing. Not a bad song.

Japanese-only album, all covers (they did a sneaky cover of one of their own songs to get some publishing off it - "Tracy Hyde (Cover)".

Its just really good fun to listen to and I recommend it if you can find it.
The Wondermints are better known as Brian Wilson's backing band these days.

Love this album but Grand Prix and SFNB are their masterpieces

Teenage Fanclub is just super underrated here for some reason, it's a fantastic power pop band.

>The Greenberry Woods
Nice. It's really neat your dad knows them. They had a song on that 90's Poptopia compilation, which is how I became familiar with them. I haven't checked out Splitsville though, so I'll have to give that a try.

Honestly I like Grand Prix more too, but I picked Bandwagonesque for the OP because bright pink and yellow stand out more in the catalog. Still all fantastic albums though.

adding everything I haven't listened to in this thread to my queue, keep the recs coming boys

...

this is fun, thank you

This Gerard Love solo effort missed a few people.
If your favourite TFC track is secretly "Going Places" (it is mine) then its worth it.

Also, not exactly a rarity but only on the best of compilation. Just lovely:

JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN TODAY

>listens to Big Star once
That record still kicks ass though cause anything that sounds like Big Star is great

The Goo Goo Dolls could have had some 5 star power pop albums if they would have just let Rzeznik be the sole singer and songwriter. As it is Takac's songs hold them back. Teenage Fanclub is the only band I've ever heard where individual band members write songs separately, they all get equal space on the album and the album turns out good.

/90s radio core/ but still really good.

bump

I don't get why this album wan't a lot bigger honestly
