Post Melon's biggest fuckups (cause you know he has PLENTY)

...

All his reviews.

and he hasn't recovered since

he had the nerve to give depression cherry flying colors but king krule gets a 4

He gave Katy Perry's new album a 6

S L O W D I V E

slowdive was weak

...

Okay:

Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz (6/10)
Real Estate - Days (3/10)
M83 - Hurry Up Were Dreaming (4/10)
BadBadnotGood - BBNG2 (9/10)
Death Grips - The Money Store (10)
Thom Yorke - Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes (5/10)
Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Piñata (9/10)
Beach House - Depression Cherry (6/10)
Lil Pump (7/10)
Brockhampton (9/10)
King Krule - The Ooz (4/10)
Fever Ray - Plunge (5/10)
LCD Soundsystem- American Dream (6/10)

Did he really give the "I'm 14 and this is deep" album a 9/10?

Starting a vlog

I hate when people say “dude knows what he’s talking about”
He has basic knowledge at the most and doesn’t even enjoy half the music he listens to.

He’s the quintessential pretentious hipster

Pinata deserved 9/10, but Pump and Brokhampton are straight up terrible and deserve the 2/10 that Narkopop got.

yeah, m83 deserved 2/10

Piñata and Depression Cherry are appropriate in my opinion. Brockhampton is a decent 8 at the very most. LCD Soundsystem and TMS should be an 8 as well. Tomorrow's Modern Boxes should be a little higher, I think a 5 is harsh.

you're right

Remember when he reviewed a fake leak of a Blur album that contained Gorillaz b-sides and gave it a 7/10? Haha

>lil pump 7
>days 3

This dude has to be fuxking retarded gives an outstanding ‘indie’ album a shit review, and then a meme rapper a alright review with only one non new gen generic hip hop song

Both Isaiah Rashad reviews
Saturation 1 should be a 7, Saturation 2 should be an 8
None of the albums he's given 10s are 10s

He gave Total Life Forever a 4/10.

you know it's just his opinion, right?

Yeah, it should've been a 4

You know the point of this thread is to disagree retard?

6/10 couldn't be more accurate. terribly overrated.

The worst was when he didn't give the band I like a 10. Almost as bad was when he gave a band I didn't like a good score. What gives this fuck a right to having an opinion? He's just some guy that listens to music. He has literally no qualifications. I gave thumbs down to every single one of his videos, I suggest you do the same.

what would you rate BBNG2 ?

you should've been an abortion

>I can feel it in the air
At least a 7

...

7.5/10

>5/10

Implying he wasn't one of the only critics to get it right.

7/10 at the highest I think.

Good technical skill, arrangements and improvisational skills. It’s not too serious of a release with an overall theme or message or anything...but it’s still enjoyable. Oh, and it turns Jazz into a meme

melon hates Kanye, why?

>just some guy who listens to music

He’s the guy at the bar that will tell you that you have shit taste and then go listen to fleet foxes and tell you their the best of all time.

>Least fave track: Country Figs

the fuck was he on

He really just has bad taste
I think if I had a dollar for every video he says
>I don’t like the mixing
>mixing is subpar
I’d be chilling with bill gates
Half of his criticisms also completely ignore thematic direction of albums, tones, and artist expression. I remember him shitting on acid rap for being “jittery, unfocused, and blending ideas” nigga why you think it’s called acid rap?

OPN - R plus 7
>6

that album is a 9.5 and is still way ahead of it's time

...

pump deserved the 7, lyrics are the least important part of a song let alone a fucking trap album, the production was great and the ooz was hot pretentious garbage, a 4 was being generous

That Gas review really solidified that he absolutely has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to electronic

>actually thinking this

Wew lad

dont let the flannel fool you, he gave this masterpiece a 4

the wew lad meme is older than you are jawn, not like that's a bad thing since we were all young at one point but even then i wouldnt have liked the ooz

they're

Literally perfect list except for that piece of hot garbage The Money Store

King Krule - The Ooz (4/10)

lmao

are you saying american dream is too high or too low

I really suspect he didn't even listen to the full album on this one. Fucker only mentioned This Orient and Spanish Sahara (briefly.) I can understand not loving the album but a 4 just doesn't even make sense

It's a really good album.

lol someone's butthurt

Days is a great album, there's not a single track I don't like on it. It was one of the few things that kept me going when I was paying on my student loans and had nothing other than a shitty mp3 and 2 hours of train rides every day.

I meant *off and mp3 *player. Time for bed.

Why even review an ambient album if you seem to fundamentally not like what the genre is going for?

This triggered me so hard

All I have to say about Anthony Fantano is this: he has opinions about music.

Because Kanye is the most overrated person of this generation.

He gave Panda Bear vs the Grim Reaper a 4/10.

I dropped him when he put a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu album in his top 15 of the year and praised the album front to back when it was just generic J-pop

xxxtentacion 17 - 2/10

This. It was a sorely underrated album in general.

>vlogger who listens exclusively to rock, pop, metal and hip-hop

yeah that was a great example of him letting his opinion of the artist as a person effect his rating of their art so sad

that album was a 6 at best

Too Low.

Especially for somebody who has This IsHappening as their AOTY 2010

fuckin kek

Him posting on Twitter he was gonna review the new Emily Haines

then not even putting it on YUNOreview

This was the point I stopped taking him seriously

house of balloons

Anthony basically boils down to "i don't get trap or electronic music" the person.

>calling Chris Wolstenholme's songs on Muse's The Second Law the worst tracks
>Narkopop's 2
>A Fever Dream's 6
>Sketches of Brunswick East's 5 without any review to back up him claims because Melon is a hack who is afraid of jazz
>thinking Flying Microtonal Banana is the best Gizzard album this year despite it being the worst

What bugs me most is his complete aversion to classical, jazz, traditional

>holy

deserves a 10 to be quite honest famalamadingdong

it's grown on me since hearing it I like it more then the one about a motel

BECAUSE HE'S A FUCKING WHITE MALE!

One of the only times he was actually right

>2/3 of the album in the best tracks of the week section leading up to release
>album drops
>only real complaint is the mixing
>6/10

i don't understand

No silly, his biggest complaint is the spoken word section

That's 80% of the review and he's a hack for dwelling on it for so long

don't get it why so many people love this album
the ones before were better, but it's def not a 2, more like a 5

Kill you're selfs it was the best comeback album in living memory, and the songcraft on it was gorgeous.

It seamlessly fits in with their other albums even though it is the latest in 22 years. If that doesn't impress you then nothing will.

Fight me.

Y'all know this is just his opinion, right?

>I JUST LOOOVE JAZZ
no you don't filthy kennyg loving melon

post malone rly fucked up when he said that hip hop doesnt have emotion

Agreed on the BBNG, it's a good album but definitely not on the same level as other 9s. He also gave BBNGIII a 7 which is blasphemy

it's just his opinion, you know that right

He still doesn't care for this album

Fucking melon

...

Both this and Hesitation Marks are stronger than NTAE, but
>waaah why can't it sound like the meme album from the mid-90's, 6/10

Oh it's beyond that. He first reviewed the fake leak, gave it a 6/10, then took it down when he found out, edited a tiny segment into it and then reuploaded it with a 7/10. So basically, a big chunk of the video is in reference to a different album than the one he's reviewing. Lost all respect for him after that.

steven wilson sucks though. Sure that's his best album but it still sucks.

AHAHHAHAHA steven wilson is shit

>Harlem Roulette worst track on Transcendental Youth by The Mountain Goats

That time.... when he was born.

What album

Get better taste

I don't think it's fair to compare EP's to albums, but I agree that Add Violence was stronger or at least as strong as NTAE.

Soyboys Spotted

>5

melon has gone mad

To be kind is an absolute 10
