It's really cool to have been there from day dot of personal computing and seen it evolve.

I think about that sometimes, how kids now are just born with it the way it is. Will it be the same for them? I doubt it since I actually remember when people weren't connected to the shit 24/7 and actually had to meet in person to do stuff.

So it was built after the year 2000 since Voodoo5 5500 was the only voodoo card with 64MB memory. 512MB hdd was ridiculously small at the time. Most computers would have 10-20GB back then.

I could be wrong on the video card. Voodoo is stuck in my head for some reason. I just remember the card was 64MB.

And why not? My first computer was a 386 with 4MB RAM and some ~300MB HDD. Doom, a revolutionary FPS at the time, had some 10 MB.

I think you're remembering things incorrectly, or you're full of shit. If your machine was high-end, this wasn't long after 1998, since that's when the K6 stopped being manufactured. 64MB video RAM was a ridiculous amount at that time. 64MB system RAM was pretty average on a standard computer in 98 (with 256MB being rare and very expensive but conceivable), but video RAM was usually around 16MB back then. The best GeForce and rage cards had 32-64MB in 99, but that was very rare and expensive. Either way, I don't buy the 512MB hdd. It was not common to have a HDD twice as big as your RAM back then, especially not if your computer was a beast machine with top of the line video card etc. Even the iMac which was a budget machine released in 98 had 4GB hdd by default.

Now all these EDM "Producers" just whack a bunch of stale presets together using pre made midi melodies and rythms and are hailed as musical geniuses.

They are literally the musical equivalent of a kids doing a "Color by Numbers" picturebook and being treated as if they were Picasso.

This can't be said enough. Bigroom EDM is the most predictable and generic shit but gets radio play so it's all for a profit.
