Is there such thing as objectively good music?

Is there such thing as objectively good music?

no

What's good about k-on?

Yes, Neutral Milk Hotel are objectively good. Therefore, there is.

cute eyebrow girl

k-on is probably the best "school slice-of-life" that exists

likeable, realistic characters with natural growth, personalities that complement one another without falling into tropes, a good mix of comedy and sentimental moments, perfect pacing, very nice art and animation, decent music (if the music was bad the entire thing would fall apart)

yes it's called crunkcore

you must stop while it is still possible for you to chose

Good is measurable, supposing there's a scale and context. Something can be good as regards a context and that is objective. There's no universal scale so there's no universal good. Basic language here.
Important to remember that a lot of people think that subjective is a word that makes their preferences into facts and almost no one on this board knows what objectivity means or how it is implemented.

What do you even fucking mean by this?

???
I don't understand, is k-on good or not

It is good in many ways.

K-On does what it wants well but what it wants is lackluster. Also the music being good meme needs to die, it's only tolerable in the context of the show like nearly any other song written for a show/anime/movie.

Someone doesn't understand how to objectively analyse something.
Everything is a good something and a bad something else. K-On effectively achieves everything it intends to and the music therein effectively accomplishes its goal of sounding like the music 17 year old girls would make in their clubroom. You have to have some insane autism to struggle with basic English on this level.

K-On doesn't try to achieve that though.

Great response, really enjoyed the part where you made a blunt, baseless statement that is completely ignorant of content of the post it was written in response to. Print out this page and show your mom, she'll be so proud.

You doesn't try to achieve that though.

>Everything is a good something and a bad something else
is k-on good or bad???

Both. But it is good at everything it wants to be. It's a bad spoon.

>tfw too inteligent to know if k-on is good

that doesn't answer the question

don't tell k-on what it wants and that it can't be a spoon you cis shitlord

It does. K-On is good.

Note: he doesn't say you have to think it is good. Qualities that in the general discourse of art discussion are considered good are present in K-On, objectively. One can choose to ignore these if they find other aspects of the work to be more important, for instance one might find the personalities of the girls grating or be disinterested in the basic episodic structure. The issue comes from critics who cannot evaluate a work with any nuance and decide that, since they dislike the show, everything about it must be shit and there is nothing at all that is "good" in the show.

This applies to all artforms. I don't like Piper at the Gates of Dawn, but that is in spite of the very effective layering of guitar textures to create that psychedelic atmosphere and the lyrical content that is an interesting blend of the American genre norm and British whimsical nonsense. There are always reasons that someone may like something, your job as a critic is to either highlight why these parts make the work good or why these parts do not stop the work from being bad, for other reasons.

this answers the question but is incorrect.

Yes
