sludge itself is "metal" for normalfags so there's that

sludge is slowed down metal.
Grunge is the culmination of a generation that grew up on classic rock, punk and metal, and early proto indie college rock bands like REM and the pixies. fused it together and created something magnificent.

About a girl is basically a beatles song

Wrong

sludge is a fusion of doom metal and hardcore punk

Grunge doesnt actually exist, it's a term made up by jews to sell records in the early 90s. None of the "grunge bands" had a similar formula besides playing guitars without too much effects and being from Seattle which hardly constitutes a genre. Also bands that you consider grunge are only disliked by hipster faggots like yourselves because its mainstream popularity, they (Soungarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains) are actually patrician as fuck. The only band that sounds like sludge out of the "Grunge" movement are Alice in Chains

>Alice in Chains
>sludge

You are retarded. Sludge is a fusion of hardcore punk and doom metal. It's bands like Eyehategod, Acid Bath, Melvins, Buzzoven, Crowbar, etc. It's not Alice in Chains by any means.

You're thinking of nu metal

Alice in Chains actually have more in common with bands like Tool, Helmet and Faith No More than they do with either Nirvana or sludge

This is probably Nirvana at their most sludge.

Sure ill take some random faggot OP's opinion over my own ears and how people called the genre of Alice in Chains before grunge was a thing

pqasb.pqarchiver.com/baltsun/doc/406754144.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Oct 23, 1992&author=J.D. Considine&pub=The Sun&edition=&startpage=&desc=Alice in Chains breaks free of a style

There was a formula

Nirvana = the betales but punk rock and metal

Sound garden = led zepplin but punk rock and metal

Pearl jam = neil young but punk rock and metal

Alice in chains = black sabbath but a little more punk and strung out

Something magnificent? If you consider punk "magnificent", then yes.

I thought
Nirvana - alt/punk rock
Pearl Jam alt rock
Soundgarden/AiC - alt metal

People dont consider alt metal a real genre either :(

yeah no shit

I can't believe people still feel this need to say this given how obvious it is

Alice in Chains have absolutely zero punk influence to their sound. They are just a straight up classic metal band with some modern rock / acoustic elements. If they were from California like Tool there is no way they would have ever been considered grunge

Alice in Chains is literally the best band to have existed when Layne was alive

Grunge is just noise rock for normies.

>Grunge doesnt actually exist
Do people still believe this?

Just because normies prefer buzz terms like grunge doesn't make it less valid of a genre How would you classify a band who is alternative and metal (but not punk or from Seattle) like Faith No More? Calling them alternative rock and heavy metal would be redundant if one tag covered both of those genres

this, it rose from the hardcore/metalcore scene.

Grunge was just sludge metal from seattle. Then a poser band got big and the term got stuck to them leading the term to be misused ever since.

Kind of right but the AIC/Sabbath comparison doesn't hold up. Soundgarden embodied both Zeppelin and Sabbath. AIC had the most original sound of the Grunge bands but were also the most genuinely metal along with early Soundgarden.

Post some og grunge?

whats wrong with sludge metal?
why does it get so much shit?

this guys gets it

thanks, Bush. first they ruined grunge music then they did 9/11

what is at all similar between nirvana, pearl jam, alice in chains etc. besides being from seattle

can somebody rec bands similar to nirvana that aren't melvins and mudhoney? and similar bands to alice in chains?

Sound.

>Listen to Facelift
>Sounds like Guns N Roses
>Listens to Ten
>Sounds like Bon Jovi
>Listens to Bleach and Ultramega Ok
>Sounds like 80s noise rock
What are you talking about desu?

Metal is just shit music for dumb people

...

You're literally cross-referencing shit that doesn't sound alike seemingly on purpose.

A lot of their hit singles sound very similar. Almost too similar. I hate the post grunge/mu metal scene so much that PJ, Nirvana, and AIC all seem like the same band to me.

Similar to Nirvana would have to be Flipper, in terms of atmosphere at least.

And like the other user said about AiC, try Guns n Roses

is Hum grunge

Hum's a great band I'm listening to them right now

Deftones' white pony was heavily inspired from hum. or the album cover was at least

this

>grunge is just sludge metal for normies
but normies don't listen to grunge
