You're right, more like a combination of both necks. I prefer 22 frets. Looks wise I think maple would fit better in both bodies. The reverse headstock looks dorky with the fender style violin headstock. I think it looks cleaner without so many fret markers.

Forgot to say something myself. I really like how all my gear looks. I hate how all of it is black. Also the bridge in my bass sucks.
For practice, at home? I wouldn't go above 5 watts (tube) with a 10 or 12 in speaker. It gets really loud.
I'm not a fan of digital amps since they don't take effects the same way a tube does if the emulation isn't that well done. You're stuck with the effects of the amp.
There are cheap low watt tube amps, and with those you can learn how to use fx loops, pedal stacking and so on in the classic way you'd do it with a big tube amp. That's if you have plans to gig at some point in the future. If you want to only do home practice and don't care about that, the roland cube, the boss katana are good choices, I haven't tried the blackstars but people seem to like them.

not him but i have a marshall dsl5c and i love it so far. the cleans are good at low volume and it can get really gainy. it has an fx loop for your shit and comes with a footswitch to switch between channels. it's like $500 new and used i've seen them as low as $350 on reverb but they're usually around $400

Do fender products come with stainless steel frets at some point in the range? You get SS PLEKed frets with all Gibsons afaik, and ever since trying SS frets with another brand, I don't think I can go back to nickels. I really want a strat, but with ss. Changing frets in a fender maple neck always fucks up the clear lacker it has on the frets.
